I laughed myself silly over this story, especially over the conversation of Bilbo as Orome with Thranduil. Poor Thranduil, and all the elves. But it serves them right for imprisoning the hungry dwarves I think. And I loved the way Bilbo comes across here, so very down-to-earth (thanks also for the side stories - loved them too). I wonder how Bilbo is going to explain everything to Lord Orome when he gets to Aman with Frodo. I bet the Valar were all rolling with laughter on the floors of Ilmarin, holding their splitting sides!!! Thanks for the story. I really loved it. Author Reply: Hello Celeth, I've said this on the other review I left, but I'll put it here too in case you've not read that reply yet: I'm sorry I haven't replied earlier. I'm not getting notifications from SoA when I have a new review, so unless it's for a recent story I've posted (which I'll check on once or twice for a day or two afterwards), I completely miss reviews for older fics onsite. Back to 'Hobbit Stew', now. I'm thrilled to bits you liked this so much! It was my first (and remains my only) 'Hobbit' fic, to date, so it was a bit of a gamble. Being more familiar with the Famous Four (hobbits), I wasn't sure I was going to manage to pull off Bilbo very well, because there was no hobbit back-up in his case. He was a hobbit alone with 13 dwarves (and they weren't even in this fic, other than as references)! Thankfully, it worked out better than I thought it would. Bilbo has a depth of character I never really saw before, he's more complex than I gave him credit for, and so 'Hobbit Stew' was an apology to him, of sorts, for my underestimation of his adventure. It was also an excuse to pit Baggins' inventiveness against elvish wisdom and see which came out the better. I think it's safe to say: Baggins - 1, Elves - 0. grins What a great thought, imagining the Valar have a good old belly laugh at this incident. Hope they did, actually, because if they don't have a sense of humour, Bilbo's stuffed ... Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)

Aha! A perfect, Hobbitish sort of resolution, and may the Hobbit truly enjoy his dearly bought meal! And may Thranduil, Legolas, and company manage to get that white stag they are after! And at least the Necromancer did manage to be vanquished for a bit in the wake of this visit! Heh! A truly delightful tale, and well done! (And the Entish is perfect!) Author Reply: Hello Larner, yeah the Necromancer was vanquished - and within the hundred year time limit stated in the prophecy, too. Perhaps Bilbo's little deception was fated after all ... You have captured Bilbo's character very well here! This was so funny, I had to LOL in a few places. Thranduil, Legolas, and the rest came across very true to canon. I was half afraid Bilbo was going to blow that horn, but he had a better plan. I've seen pics online on several Hobbit blogs of the dwarves and Bilbo. I've seen Martin Freeman in "Sherlock" and to me he looks like Bilbo even without makeup. I mean that in a good way. I hope you will continue to write more hobbit fics! Author Reply: Hello BeeGee, firstly, let me apologise for the shocking delay in responding to your review - I did mena to much earlier, but then real life took over & I completely forgot. grovels I am delighted that you enjoyed the characterisations so much. This is my first 'Hobbit' fic, and the characters were not all too familiar too e, but it's a relief to know I didn't spoil them for you or my other readers! You needn't have worried about Bilbo blowing the horn; as talkative as he can be, even his mouth isn't that big! I've seen the dwarven stills online too. Smme of them are surprisingly attractive, and there are several types of dwarf therein ... I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that yet. Throw in the OC elf maiden and, well, I'll have to reserve judgement until the films are released. Gloin is the spitting image of Gimli though, which is brilliant. And yes, Martin Freeman does look good as Bilbo. Actually, he reminds me a lot of Billy Boyd's Pippin. Must be the Tookish blood they share ... Thanks for R & R-ing, Kara's Aunty ;)

My dear cousin! What a wonderful ending to this tale, love it, love it, love it - all of it. Would have LOL in parts but had to restrain myself since I reading this at the library. Too cute! (And le hannon for the kitty pics too, how fitting Sam and Rosie were so close). And then one day, Bilbo arrives on the shores of Aman, and one Lord Orome is there to have Words with him XD Am so glad you finished it, and really enjoyed the last section! Author Reply: Hello bookworm, oh, the thought of Oromë waiting on the shores of Aman to confront an unsuspecting Bilbo made me laugh myself silly. I think there's a sequel in there somewhere ... I'm really glad you enjoyed the final chapter of Hobbit Stew, Honestly, I thought I was never going to get it finished because of this stupid writer's block, but I had a good day yesterday, so, thank Eru for that! O most clever and ingenius hobbit! A dinner was never so daringly earned as this one. What a delightful tale. Author Reply: Hello shirebound, Bilbo is a terribly clever hobbit, isn't he? Not sure if I would've dared impersonate a Vala, though I suppose that would have depended on how hungry I was in the same situation ... Btw, have you seen the new photographs for the young Bilbo and all the dwarves on tuckborough.net? One or two of those dwarves are ... well, dishy ... Am now having some rather impure thoughts about Thorin and Kili, which somehow feels wrong. Methinks I must be a bonafide pervy dwarf fancier ... It's also astonishing how much the actor they've found to play Gloin (Peter Hambleton) looks like his screen son Gimli when in his dwarf make-up! Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
