| Hey, I'm enjoying this story! I hope you won't stop here; I want to see how things pan out for Cado. I'm also looking forward to seeing the continuation of "In the Court of the High King." Author Reply: I definitely won't stop, but I can't continue this until I get to a certain point for "In the Court of the High King" without making spoilers for myself. Just a few more chapters and I can get back to Cado's tale. | |

| Is it likely that this story will be completed? It has been over a year since the last update. Author Reply: It definitely will! I have been sidetracked by RL, and by my mod duties and the Big Bang, but this will definitely be completed! I may take longer than I used to to update, but unless something drastic happens to me, I will never leave a story unfinished! | |

| Bright Victory :-D That's great! A very interesting and promising beginning. And I hope Cado will do his best. He's found a nice family to serve and he will have learned a lot when one year and one day are over. I know that what he and his brother did was a crime. But still I find it very hard for a hobbit to be banished from the Shire! Is there still hope for him to return? I like the chapter names you chose, and I was surprised that the Anglo-Saxon "Weodmonath" contains a German word. "Monat" is German for month. Although, the German word for August is -- August ;-) Roman influence I bet! Thank you very much and happy belated birthday! Author Reply: As for Cado's future, we shall see what we shall see. In the meantime, he has a year to get through! I was thrilled to discover just how close the Anglo-Saxon months were to the Shire months (though, not, of course, surprised, giveen JRRT's linguistic interests) so that was really a nice bonus! | I love that Danulf and his family are making Cado feel so at home. Cado's moment of clarity upon seeing Danulf's family and how much they rely on him was perfect. That he would come to this realization so soon just proves how much he and his brother are different. Cado understands who the true victims are, and could have been, whereas Clovis still believes that he was wrongly accused. Cado will soon be getting over his fear of heights and will be speaking Rohirric in no time with his two new friends to help. :) Can't wait for more! Author Reply: Yes, Danulf and his family will make Cado feel at home, and Danulf is not the sort to make Cado feel his servitude too much. Of course he will have tasks, and will have to remember that he *is* a servant (that's part of the punishment, after all)-- but he'll probably be treated much more like one of the family. Danulf's not used to having a servant! | |

| Cado's willingness to serve and learn will make his time in Danulf's household pass the more swiftly and well, and his realization as to what the stoning might have done to the family shows he is capable of salvation. I'm glad he's brave enough to climb up into the loft. And the children sound wonderful! As for the baby--heh! Yes, she was glad to see her husband come home from the war, wasn't she? I'm finding myself very proud of Cado. Author Reply: He's a far more intelligent and thoughtful young hobbit than his brother is. Clovis seems incapable of working out consequences to things, or even making that connection after-the-fact. (I've known young people like that.) As for climbing into the loft, it was a caae of warring instincts, and that instinct that said "It's good to be with others in a strange situation" won out over the one that said "High places are scary". Little Sigeberht! As a character he was born when I saw the name in a list of Anglo-Saxon names: "Bright Victory" seemed the perfect name for a baby born after the fall of the Dark Lord! And I suddenly decided that Danulf and his wife must have had such a babe! And thank you! So do I! | |

| YAY!! A concurrent sequel, following Cado, is a delight! And it starts off with a great prologue and first chapter. Something tells me Cado is going to be getting quite the education in Rohan - and is probably going to be VERY glad he didn't hang around with his brother. I doubt that Clovis' time there is going to be half a pleasurable. I'll be watching both stories for updates now. Cool! Author Reply: Originally, I had thought to do them one at a time. But there will be places in both stories where they need to intersect, so then I decided to run them concurrently. I doubt that Clovis' time there is going to be half a pleasurable. Somehow, I rather agree with you. | |

| Oh what fun! I'm looking forward to seeing how Cado fares during his year and a day as Danulf's servant. Hopefully, he will come away a better hobbit even if he cannot go back to the Shire. A nice companion piece to the other stories. Author Reply: I've been pleased with all those who have an interest in seeing how Cado fares--I think he must have struck a chord with readers, because he seems to be the most popular of my OCs! | |

| Oh, my, you are writing up a storm! I'm so glad to see this (as well as the others) even though I have no time for reading at present, not even stolen moments. I look forward to reading later. *sigh* It's nice to have something to look forward to, but hard to put it off. I'll use it as a reward for getting my work done... There's a happy thought! Please keep the wee hobbits in your prayers, if you have a moment here or there. Middlest seems to have a nasty spider bite on the foot (very swollen, hot, painful and itchy--we're watching it closely), and Youngest broke her collarbone several weeks ago. It's very difficult to keep wiggly young hobbits still long enough for such things to heal properly...
