In Darkness Bound  by Fiondil 8 Review(s)
TariReviewed Chapter: 33 on 12/29/2010
Namo is wise to distrust Melkor. Why can't the others sense this too? What Melkor doesn't seem to realize is that Iluvatar can see all, including his every move, and could very easily put a halt to his efforts. He's not as smart as he thinks.

Author Reply: I think they all distrust Melkor at this point, Tari, but Námo certain distrusts him more than the others, that's for sure. And no, Melkor isn't as smart as he thinks and Eru will win in the end. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

What a wonderful Yule gift. And now things begin to come to a crux - Melkor is coveting the Silmarili, and the general unrest is passing through the general populace. The time is ripe for revolution, and it will come, although in a form unforeseen by all. Marvelous as always.

Author Reply: *LOL* You're the first person to consider this particular chapter with the Lord of Slime as the main character a Yule gift. As it is, you are correct about things coming to a crux, as we will see in the next part, which I will begin posting Monday. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Erulissë. I really appreciate it.

A most solemn ending to part 1. Melkor is already sewing his seeds of distrust and restlessness and envy, and they will spring forth with more of the same--although the restlessness of some, not born of distrust, will bring a crop of hope and defiance of the dark.

Excellent!

Author Reply: Not all the restlessness is born of evil, but only part of Eru's divine plan for them all, whether they realize this or not. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Larner. I appreciate you taking the time to do so, especially in the midst of the holidays.

I really like the dark atmosphere you achieved in the second part of the chapter. So well done.

Author Reply: Thank you, Ellynn. I appreciate you letting me know how much you enjoyed this chapter.

And so ends part one. I've been really enjoying this story. Even though I know roughly what will happen, there is still suspense and I'm always delighted to see another chapter. I think this is easily one of your best stories yet. Well done!

Author Reply: Hi Aiwen. I'm pleased to know you think this is one of my best stories yet. Thank you for letting me know how much you are enjoying this story and this chapter in particular. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review.

~ End of Part One ~

Well, that's ominous! And a Merry Christmas to you too....

You know, Atar Fiondil, this was not exactly the best Christmas present ever. LOL! No, really...I knew the story was only going to get darker, and I knew this had to happen, so I'm not surprised. It was a wonderful chapter, the way it was written. Just very dark and depressing on Christmas Eve, so I may have to go reread your real Yule present to us. Which will bring me back to poor Zimrathor and then I have to re-reread the Yule one. Not that I mind, but do I have the time, I wonder?

Well, I can (futilely, I'm sure) hope that Melkor will be caught...wonder what happens next?

Merry Christmas, Atto indonyo!

Tye-melin.

Kaylee, your yelde indonyo.

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee,

Unfortunately, this is just the way the chapters fell in terms of posting. I didn't plan it this way and I decided not to skip posting so as not to disappoint any of my readers who look forward to Fridays and getting their "Fiondil-fix" as one person put it. *grin* Anyway, why don't you read "Elf Academy" instead? That should cheer you up.

As to what happens next, we will learn that on Monday.

Merry Christmas and tye-melin.

Well Feanaro has sent Melkor off with a flea in his ear, pity it does not keep him away. He will be back with a very nasty companion and much too soon for the Vala to do any thing to prevent him.
Poor Namo, you have to feel sorry for him, even just having an inkling of what is to come is a heavy burden.
So that is why the Valar called a festival, to hopefully calm the Noldor but unintentionally aiding Melkor in his assualt on Formanos. Deep sigh for what is to come.
Merry Chritmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours,
Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi Lynda,

You do have to feel sorry for Námo at this point. He knows something bad is coming but not what. And of course, *we* know what that is, which makes it all the more poignant. And yes, that is why the Valar called for a festival, hoping to stem the tide of unrest still felt by the Noldor.

Anyway, Part Two will begin on Monday and we will be getting very close to the actual Darkening.

Merry Christmas to you and thanks for reading and reviewing. I greatly appreciate it.
