Help My Unbelief (the Unbelief remix)  by Dreamflower 3 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 1 on 10/13/2010
I was so honored to see this tale, as light as it was, being used as the basis of your remix, Dreamflower. I love writing children, and admit I'm much influenced by the Would-be-good tales by E. Nesbitt. I so love the characterization you have given us of Margil, as well as the reasoning of Merry and Pippin as they try to offer Frodo some distraction, as well as the tale of the banquet itself. Oh, Pippin--I can so see him just this way at the banquet! The food sounds truly marvelous, and his running commentary is so Pippinish!

And I do love the final leavetaking.

Again, so many thanks I now offer you for this wonderful look at my story. I so love it!

Author Reply: I just now realized I had never replied to this. I thought I had! Perhaps I got interupted before I hit the submit button.

It was a good deal of fun, my getting to play in your universe! While I truly wanted very much to dabble in a couple of your longer works, such as "The King's Commission" or "Lesser Rings", I realized that within the constraints of a remix, which would have to be a one-shot, I couldn't do them justice.

But I remember when I read "Unbelief", wondering about why Margil was so stubborn about *not* believing in hobbits, and thought it would be nice to explore his motives and character!

As for the food, you know how I am about food and hobbits! It was loads of fun to try and think what the Gondorians might call some of those medieval dishes, and to consider what Pippin's reaction to them would be.

Thank you very much for giving me such a delightful story and such a rich cast of OCs to explore!

A lot of people were surprised during the War and after too in discovering that hobbits really do exist! Cute story here. Love the title.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I'm sure a great many were!

Do you know, you are only one of two people who noticed the title? I thought it would be rather obvious!

Oh, well done! I loved Larner's original tale and it's ending, and I loved your remix, bringing additional life and light into the corners of the story.

Author Reply: I loved the original as well. I thought it would be interesting to figure out Margil's reasons behind his attitude. Larner has such a unique and fascinating universe, it was fun to explore this corner of it!
