To be the last mallorn remaining within Middle Earth must have been so difficult. And it senses Frodo Gardner will soon leave Middle Earth also. Ahhh!

Oh, poor Mallorn! Well, all things that live must die (unless they're immortal, which a Mallorn certainly is not), and its time came. Still, poor tree.

Oh, this is so sad! With so little words, in just a two simple sentences, you managed to depict such sorrow. So well done!

No, seriously, I was really excited when I saw this--I have never seen anyone else write fic set in the Shire in this year.

And then to find out that this was a response to a wee bit of speculation... Well, I'm really happy.

As for the drabble itself, I thought that this beautifully encapsulated the slow feeling of fading that I've always associated with the Fourth Age. Please thank the Mallorn for me for giving you what it did!

Author Reply: I don't think I've ever seen anyone touch on the Shire at that time either. Most fanfics stop touching on the Shire around the time that Sam sails west and Pippin and Merry head east to spend their final years with Eomer and Aragorn. Thank YOU for your lovely comments that give me new ideas!
