Estel Counts  by Larner 4 Review(s)

I can just see Bilbo surrounded by all those books of lore and losing himself in them. This is one hobbit who is interested in more than just what he's already read.

Author Reply: Yes, he's found his horizons considerably broadened by travel though the wider world outside the borders of the Shire.

I love Bilbo...he's so scholarly. *grin* I'm sure he fit right in at Imladris, both now and when he returned for his 'retirement'!

Author Reply: He has reason to do as he's doing, as I reveal in "Fostering."

"Gift" is the right expression!

Sadly, I have to agree with Kitt Otter that only a few hobbits appreciated that gift!

But now I wonder how long Estel continued to just watch Bilbo's doings before he asked him to tell the story of his adventure :-)
He *must* be curious!

Author Reply: Oh, I agree he MUST have been very curious, Andrea. And I can see him sitting there, listening, an intent expression on his face as the Hobbit recounts his attempt to pick the pocket of a troll, or describes what he saw of the Battle of Five Armies....

It's a little sad that only a handfull of the younger hobbits appreciated Bilbo's gift.

Author Reply: I tend to agree with you, Kitt.
