Hey, Dreamflower, you should start a "Dear Dora" column! =)

Dear Miss Dora,

I must say, these Letters were full of Sound and Good Advice, as I have Come to Expect. I have a Young Cousin who is Coming of Age on the Morrow, but Unfortunately she is Living in Another Country at Present. I had No Way to Send her a Gift, as I do Not Have her Present Address (My Aunt has Not Given it to Us) but I Plan to Send a Message by the Electronic Quick Post. Would it be Correct to Give her a Belated Gift at Yule, alongside her Yule Gift, when she Returns Home?

Sincerely,

Miss Kaylee Arafinwiel

(Dreamflower, I love these letters! Folco is so sweet, and I love Frodo and Daisy, too! I'm going to post a birthday message to Jennifer's Facebook page, but I do wish she was here to spend her birthday with us, as she's turning 21 and that's very special.)

Author Reply: My Dear Miss Kaylee,

While I find it Most Distressing to hear of such a Young Person being off on an Adventure so far from Family and Friends, it is Commendable of you to be so Thoughtful of her on her Special Day! Distance often means that Exceptions must be made to the Correct Customs. And in Truth, a belated Gift is Not Incorrect, so long as it is Not Given At the Party!

Dreamflower says: I'm glad you love this bit of correspondence! I rather thought you might! *grin*

I always enjoy Aunt Dora. Perhaps she might advise me as to how to proceed tactfully in my dilemma -- but unfortunately she's not here, so I'll just barge in like Folco!

Daisy being in your canon Folco's mother, I believe her father Dudo would be Folco's grandfather rather than his uncle.

Author Reply: You are 100% right, and I actually had realized it myself, some hours after I had already posted-- I do intend to rectify that soon.

One of the perils of having to write a story every 24 hours for a month without knowing the topic ahead of time: sometimes the details suffer! LOL!

Oh-oh, the pitfalls of etiquette!

Author Reply: Yes, but as long as you have an Aunt Dora to ask, you will never go wrong-- at least if you are a hobbit in the Shire!

Furthermore, his Kind Heart does much to make others Overlook Folco's singular Lack Of Tact.

*Grins* She loves him dearly, it seems.
Otherwise she would have found at least Some Words regarding his Outspoken Writing Style ;-)

Folco may have his foot in his mouth on occasion but his heart is in the right place.

I *love* Aunt Dora -- especially as you imagine her! It's such a delight to read some of the voluminous Correspondence and Advice she dispensed over the years.

Author Reply: I enjoy writing her very much, as well! And I think you can tell she has a really big soft spot for her young nephew Folco!
