A Long-Expected Wedding  by Fiondil 17 Review(s)

Would you be terribly surprised to know that I was cheering Castamir on when he shut his wife up? His remark that Almáriel has only herself to blame for her daughter running away just confirmed what I suspected all along.

Hmmm ... burning that horrid garb sounds like a good idea. More permanent than the privy, and not retrievable, no matter how much of a temper tantrum Almáriel would throw.

Ugh, that was really some nightmare! I was quite upset when Finrod turned up in the sewing room in that state. That balrog-elleth really got to him! Can't we have her have some serious accident, so she is missing the wedding altogether? Would be better for everyone's state of mind and serve her right!

A Song of Power to destroy that dress was impressive, but a bit excessive. What a waste of his power! But then, maybe not ... But when Glorfindel came running and had to counter that, I was really worried. We all know what happened last time they did that! Thank God Námo turned up before the damage got too bad and took over from Glorfindel.

Of course Glorfindel is right – damn Almáriel!

Author Reply: I'm sure a lot of people were cheering Castamir on, Kitty, so you are in good company. *grin*

Well, the Song of Power is a bit excessive but Finrod thinks he's battling Sauron, not ugly wedding clothes. *LOL!* At least Námo was able to put a stop to his shenanigans with a little help from Glorfindel who was the only one who could've kept Finrod from completely destroying everything and everyone in sight.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

What a hideous dream. And poor Findrod will have Almáriel for a mother-in-law. The descriptions of her were quite fitting. It is about time Castamir stood up to her, something he should do more often. At least Frinrod will not longer have to worry about wearing that awful outfit.

Author Reply: It was a pretty hideous dream, that's for sure, Tari. And now they don't have to worry about the wedding garb. Glad to see you're still reading this. Thanks for commenting.

Almariel's detestable garb has come to its fitting end, I see. Love the dream and the aftermath! Now--will the Lady Vaire perhaps fill the needs of the day? Glad Namo intervened as he did!

Author Reply: Fitting, indeed, and not a moment too soon. LOL! We'll see in the next chapter how things are resolved. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Larner. I appreciate it very much.

*eyebrow* That's...a LOT of hate for your outfit there Finrod (not that I blame him, really...). Also one impressive nightmare. Still no sign of the bride yet either, and there's the whole thing with Fingolfin... One has to wonder if Finrod broke a mirror or somesuch lately!

Author Reply: Hi Siiw. Very impressive. I hope I never have one that impressive, myself. *grin* You do have to wonder, given all that has happened (and will happen), if Finrod didn't break several mirrors. LOL! Oh well... we'll see how he fares from here. Thanks for reading and reveiwing, bookworm. I appreciate it very much.

This was one of the most spectacular chapters I have read here since the ending of EI1! I was laughing loudly from this, in my break at work. And it was good to see Castamir speak up. It must have taken some guts to marry Armariel, it was about time that it showed. Great chapter!

Author Reply: Hi Siiw. I'm glad you found this such a spectacular chapter. I went all out with it, making it as zany as possible, as dreams are wont to be. And Castamir has more going for him than most people think. He's no one's fool. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.

Holy Sweet Namo in a pink tutu!!!

When you say you're going to deal w/the Wedding Outfit this week, you weren't kidding!! Only thing missing was graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate, along w/some Mint Hot Chocolate to really liven things up.

Oh, I'm sorry...That was *already* happening, wasn't it? ;o)

WOW and I mean WOW!! Just...I'm speechless right now.

I've had bad flashback dreams myself thanks to two Kidney Transplants, one that didn't work and what happened to save the second, that left their marks and waking up in a soaking sweat thinking you're still back there when you're not...Poor Finrod!! Does Namo need any help w/the little arsonist? *snortsnicker*

Sorry, but that had me snickering. Anyway...Poor thing needs a huge hug right now. As well as a cask of Dorwinion to celebrate the Death of the Wedding Garb.

Oh, come on...Of *course* that's going to be celebrated among Finrod, Glorfy and the others once some time has passed. We *all* know that. ;o)

When Castamir told Almariel to oh so very formally and properly shut the Mandos up *and* in front of everyone that's important? I wanted to cheer. Good for him and he's right. She's the reason Amarie's missing and also for this little episode that just took place as well. Glorfy's dead on target w/that.

Which makes what's about to happen oh so very interesting. Why do I have a funny feeling a certain Mother of the Bride is about to be given a Valar Smackdown? Hmmmm? Any hints there oh Mellon nin...Hmmmm!?!

Can't blame me for trying. Can't *wait* for next Wednesday!!! :oD

Author Reply: Hi Tigger. I have no doubt there will be some kind of celebration and a cask or two of Dorwinion should help. *grin*

Castamir speaking up as he did was unexpected because he's considered more laid-back, but anyone who's read "Elf, Interrupted" knows that there's more to the ellon than meets the eye. Almáriel may think she runs the roost, but Castamir is the real boss.

And a Valar smackdown.... LOL! That would be a sight, wouldn't it? At any rate, without giving anything away, I can tell you that Námo will still be there when Finrod wakes up and we'll see how our little arsonist handles the knowledge that his crazy dream was more real than he suspected.

Thanks for reading and reviewing, Tigger. I appreciate it very much.

I'm with Glorfy, it's all Almariel's fault!

I am not surprised that Finrod had a nightmare, the thought of having to go out in public in that, that, I am not sure what to call it, let alone wearing it in front of his gwyder would give any one a nightmare.

We all know who Almariel will blame. I am pleased to see that Castamir knows when to put his foot down, I wonder if he had any idea of the colours his wife picked out but I expect he kept as far away from the wedding planning as he could.

I hope the other garments in the work room are salvageable or we are going to have some very unhappy people in Tirion.

Almariel really needs to get her spite under control or she will find that her daughter will be having as little to do with her as possible, even when the elflings start arriving!

This was more than a little exciting and also very satisfactory, couldn't have happened to a better set of clothes!

Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi Lynda. We'll see how the rest of the garments actually fared in the next chapter. And I'm glad you approved of the fate of the clothes. I think it was well-deserved also. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it.

Very creative of Finrod. A mighty Victory against the force of Evil. Songs of Powers to destroy a wedding garb. Great solution!

Good that Glorfindel was there to prevent more problems. And Namo, he is always there to help. I really like him, and that is a result of your stories.

I don’t know why, but Indis is not in my “nice” people list right now. She sounds so cold, so dettached.

Author Reply: Hi Fantasia. Finrod is nothing if not creative, and Glorfindel is handy to have around at need. Námo is, well, Námo, and I'm glad to know that my stories have helped you to warm to the Vala. Indis isn't all that bad an elleth, but she doesn't warm to others as easily as her children and grandchildren do. But I actually like Indis. She's got character and isn't afraid to show it.

Anyway, thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Now that was EPIC! Mess with Finrod, and he may throw songs of power at you. Take a note of that Almariel!

Excellent chapter as always Fiondil.

Author Reply: Thanks, Finrodbrs. I appreciate you letting me know how much you enjoyed the chapter.

Almariel's a werewolf now? *snicker* Well, dreams are odd things...Glad the hated wedding garb is finally gone, Atto. What on Arda was Almariel playing at, anyway? I'd love to know just what these horrid designs were all about. Surely she can't be that colourblind, or was she just trying to humiliate Finda for staying away so long? That's incredibly petty and vindictive. But then, she is a "Balrog"...lolol. And of course, Namo showed up to save the day! (Poor Glorfi, though...)

Waiting impatiently for next week to see how Finda gets out of this one...

Tye-melin,

Kaylee

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. Dreams are indeed odd things. I think Almáriel was trying to get back at Finrod for deserting Amarië when he did and resentment over that simply ate her up so that her good sense (and she does have it as we see in IDB when she stands up against Ingoldo) was destroyed by it (or at least that part dealing with Finrod) and as Lynda pointed out to me in a PM, when we first meet Almáriel in EI-1, she is wearing a green gown with a spray of rosettes and I'm sure her seamstress did a lovely job of it, but the wedding garb was a shade too much.

Anyway, we'll see what happens when Finrod wakes up and how this is resolved in the next chapter.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much, Kaylee. Tye-melin.
