Finally! But I fear recovery for all of them will be slow, yet now they have the chance of doing so and maybe Thranduil will have learned a valuable lesson in all this.

Author Reply: yes, it will be a long and hard time and I´m sure Thranduil has learned his lesson. It tould be very interesting what Lord Námo has to say. I can not imagine how the Valar will judge such an elf. Thank you for reading, reviewing and following the story. Only one chapter to go. Lai

So even the forest wished for the mad elf to be stopped. Wow! This was a very real fight scene. I felt like a bird in that tree, right there watching it all. I believe you show, simply and clearly, the difference between a good "man", (of any race) and a bad one. Even knowing that this must be their final confrontation, Thranduil still fought to defend, to protect. It was only after his only so-far uninjured son was attacked that he began to strike to kill. My favorite Thranduil tales are the ones pictureing him as the defender of the forest and all that live in it. This chapter nicely joins that company. I also have enjoyed your portrayal of Celeborn throughout this story. He has always struck me as calm, steady, strong. I doubt the young guard resented his taking charge and giving the directions needed to get them all helped and home; the directions that Thranduil was in no shape to be giving just then.

Author Reply: thank you for your lovely words, demeter. It struck me as a nice idea, that even the forest wanted to be rid of this mad elf. I´m so glad I let you feel like a watcher in the tree. I was there also! Showing the difference of good and evil was my intention and it obviously worked. It was very important for me to show that Thranduil was ever ready to spare Thoran´s life and that he did not intent to kill. He had so many reasons to kill this elf, but he detests death, yet even he has his limits and Thoran has done all to deserve death. I´m so very glad that "my" Thranduil does fit your imagination. He´s a defender and not an attacker, yes! I picture Celeborn as I have described him: calm and strong. He´s a ruler of his own and demanding if necessary. Yet he stood steadfast on his cousin´s side when Thranduil had no longer the power to give orders. Anyway, thank you so much for your most encouraging and lovely review. I really appreciate it. Lai

Personally, I would not want to be Thoran when he enters the Halls of Mandos. Gives me chills just thinking about it. This was no kin-slayer in the midst of passion or military fervor. This was a creature more like unto Saruman's Orcs. *shivers* Perhaps that's where the White Wizard got the idea.

The entire kingdom will take yen, I think, to get over this traitor's reign of terror. I suppose in that way, he was king for a time. But what a hideous king. Demented. Twisted.

Very nicely written chapter.

Author Reply: I would not want to treat place with Thoran either even if I can find no pity for him. He was already beyond help and reasoning. Yes, Thranduil will need a lot of time to get over this and with him so many other having lost a loved one. My lat chapter will deal with this. I´m so glad you liked this chapter and thank you for reviewing, which is highly appreciated. Lai

I am glad that Thorin is dead, with his insanity and bitterness he was beyond help.Lets hope in death he can find some peace at last.As for the king his family and people, especially the parents who lost their children,I really hope that they can begin to find some healing. It was very hard for Celeborn to watch the fight and not get involed,he just seemed to know what to do.No wonder they call him Celeborn the wise.I would love to be a fly on the wall, when Thorin and Namo have their talk. All I can say glad its not me.Can't wait for the next chapter.LOL Galathil

Author Reply: you are right, Thoran was beyond help. Now all can start to find some healing, including Thranduil. Yes, Celeborn is not called wise for nothing. He knew that it was Thranduil´s fight and stayed back, yet I´m sure he would have taken action if something had gone wrong. Only one chapter to go with the aftermath of this dreadful episode not only for Thranduil but for so many others more or less involved. Thank you so much for your lovely review, Galathil. I really apreciate it. Lai
