Elf Academy Part Deux  by Fiondil 12 Review(s)

I hope the Valar can also do something against Farrell and not only confuse poor Alex more and more. How much can he take? Oh yes, meet Manwe himself....but in some way he already has while drowning, yes? At one time he is talking with "Gods" and "angels" and at the next time he has a very earthly problem: another agent who wants him dead. Again I´m not sure if I wanted to be in his shoes. I liked how Alex objected that he would treat the elvish names with respect even if his name only hold sorrow...Lai

Author Reply: Hi Lai. We'll see how the Valar handle things with respect to Farrell. And Alex met Námo, not Manwë. I don't think the poor guy is ready for a meeting with Manwë yet. *grin* At any rate, Alex is correct to point out that the students would be respectful of the names that have been reserved, knowing what the original owners of the names endured. Of course, I'm not sure anyone would want to be called Fëanor or Eöl, would they? I know I wouldn't.

Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

Atto,

*eyebrows rise sharply*

*Elurin*?

As in, Remembrance of Elu, as you said. As in, THAT Elurin. Well...what the heck was going on THERE? Are the Valar trying to proclaim Alex's heritage to all and sundry? Hmm...

Very tricky, those Valar. And Maiar. I still haven't forgotten you, "Finway". *snort*

(Side Note: I thought he'd said "Finwe" instead of Fionwe, and got totally confused, lol.)

Poor Alex, this just gets worse and worse for him, lol.

Tye-melin,

Kaylee

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. Well, Alex heard "finway" without making the connection to Finwë, which is why Glorfindel and Ron were a bit confused for a second until they realized what he was talking about.

Poor Alex, indeed. *snicker*

Thanks for commenting. Tye-melin.

Sounds like Alex missed one of the best classes. It's still fun to imagine such a consummate warrior as Elrohir teaching making hot chocolate! Do you think you could get him to collect the recipes and make a book? I'd like one ;)

Of course, with the Elves as the instigators, even such a simple three-legged race would be twisted into something more complicated and more fun. I am sure they all had a great afternoon!

Yeah, Bregdal was my first thought when the name lottery was mentioned. By now, I wouldn't be too surprised if he got that one.
Looks like the lottery has been improved with the pronouncation and meaning on the slip, too. Good idea.

In any case, the name Alex got was interesting, considering his lineage. Plus, it seems our dear Valar can't keep away and always have to meddle a bit. I'm surprised Alex didn't outright faint when Fionwë turned up, after all the shocks he already had. Though of course, he's probably getting used to being shocked all the time, poor guy.

*sigh* Why does Farrell have to turn up again now, of all times? I don't like the thought one bit that Alex has to meet him. Though that Café is well known to certain Valar, of course, and I hope they make sure Alex is safe, as they seem to be very interested in him.

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Well, even consummate warriors need a hobby. LOL! And Elrohir's certainly is a yummy one. I'd like a book of his recipes myself.

I'm sure the Valar thought it would be a fun way to confirm Alex's lineage rather than just sending a Maia to tell them.

And Farrell is like the proverbial bad penny, always showing up when least expected.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

And the shocks keep piling up. I just hope Alex can keep a clear head when he goes to meet Farrell. He can't have a breakdown. How long can Alex keep up with all this before he snaps? I wouldn't mind if he would take out Farrell when he snaps, but that would draw a lot of attention from the wrong folks. Who is going to notify the elves of the meeting, since Alex obviously is not going to do it? That would probably be Fionwe, since the Valar seem to have put a 24/7 watch on Alex.

Author Reply: Hi obsidanj. Yes, the shocks keep piling up and we'll see how those shock take a toll on Alex in the next chapter. And as far as I know, no one is notifying the Elves about anything, as we will see. Anyway, thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

Well, that opened nearly as many new questions as answers given! Good to know the Valar are actively pursuing this and treading carefully. I'm glad Fionwe was so considerate in how he made himself known, but Alex did handle himself very well! Something tells me that he'll be doing some major re-reading of his history notes with very different eyes in the next little while! And wise of Alex to just sleep for a while before attempting to tackle Farrell - not much he can do overnight anyway. Hope he's able to get news of the meeting to Amroth without Farrell finding out; they really have to be in it together.

I see I'm not the only one who thinks it would be lovely to see "Nate" in place in the coffee shop for a Wrath of Mandos moment. :-) I'd be very much in favor of a little memory scrubbing, but I'm sure after Glorfindel's experiences with memory alteration at the hands of the Valar, that could be a rather fraught proposition.

And I wonder if with the reduced barriers, Alex will to be able to use osanwe with the elves...

Author Reply: Hi Lyana. I suspect you're right about that. That so-called history book is going to have a whole different meaning for Alex now.

As for "Nate" showing up at the cafë... well, stranger things have happened. *grin* We'll see what happens when Alex and Farrell meet there. As for calling in the Elves or even just Amroth... Alex probably won't. He's too used to going it alone to bother. That's something he's going to have to learn to do if he's going to be involved with the Elves for any length of time.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read and review. I really appreciate it.

Uh-oh! Fionwë's "reassuring" words made me already extremely nervous, but the ending with Farrell's e-mail... could you, please, have someone arrange an unfortunate accident for him? It doesn't have to be fatal - complete memory loss would do the trick just nicely.

Ye Valar, but Fionwë really does have a presence! Poor Alex, he probably is more confused than ever before. I wonder what the significance of Elurín's name will be. Because knowing you, it must have one. ;)

Author Reply: Hi Soledad. I don't know if I can arrange for something bad to happen to Farrell, but I'll see what I can do. *grin* The problem with Farrell is that he doesn't realize against whom he is pitting himself. He thinks he's dealing with ordinary, clueless humans and not Valar, Maiar and Elves, none of whom are even a blip on his internal radar.

As for the significance of Eluríin's name with respect to Alex, it is basically as Ron pointed out and as Fionwë confirmed: he is a descedant of Lúthien and therefore descended from Elu Thingol as well, which is what Elurín's name means. What other significance, if any, the name may hold remains to be seen.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. It's very much appreciated.

So, there's more orders coming from dear Farrell, eh?

The games sound like fun, and I want those cocoa recipes! Heh!

Author Reply: I wouldn't mind having the cocoa recipes, myself, Larner. *grin* At any rate, we'll see what Farrell is up to in the next chapter. Nothing good, that's for sure. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

FantasiaReviewed Chapter: 26 on 4/13/2012
Well, I least we know now who he is. Poor Alex, he is having too many shocks at once, to see an "angel" appearing in front of him must be so intense.
Now, the elves will feel more protective of him than before, he is "family".
Next, how to deal with Farrell. The appointment, is it the same cafe that Estë and Namo run? that would be good, having Estë serving them and making Farrell miserable. Hopefully, Alex will tell the elves, he should not going alone or in secret

Author Reply: Hi Fantasia. Yes, at least we, and they, know who Alex is, and even if Alex doesn't quite realize it, the Elves will, as you say, look upon him as "family" and act accordingly.

And yes, it's the same café, and you never know who might show up there. We'll have to wait and see. *grin*

Thanks for leaving a comment. I appreciate it very much.

What a fun way to spend an afternoon and what a neat way to celebrate making it to the halfway mark!

Will Alex keep Elured or will he pick another name, I can understand why Glorfindel chose to not use certain names?

I might have known the Valar had something to do with the name being in the box, so now Alex has met an angel and an arc-angel, who's next?

Now Farrell has raised his ugly little head, I hope Alex lets the Elves know about his meeting!

Making arrangments in Valmar.

Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi Lynda. It does look like fun, doesn't it? I wish they'd done things like that when I was in college, but then mine wasn't run by Elves (that I know of) LOL!

And Alex is stuck with Elurín. It's obvious that the Valar wish for him to have that name and Glorfndel isn't that brave.

We'll see what's up with Farrell in the very next chapter.

Valmar.... so lovely this time of year. *grin*

Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.
