Elf Academy Part Deux  by Fiondil 12 Review(s)

Yay! The rescue team arrived and got Zach and Derek out of harms way. I would have loved to see the expression of the guy who discovered that the prisoners had vanished. So, Farrell's motif is revenge, but why are the others helping him. They don't even raise an eyebrow when Farrell admits that the killing order is fake.
Loved the children's game to figure out who goes with Glorfindel. Although, it might seem inappropriate at such a time. But these are elves ;-).

Author Reply: Hi obsidanj. We'll find out why the others have been going along with Farrell in all this soon enough. And, as you say, these are Elves, and they don't do things quite the same as we. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Oh, love the hidden tunnel and disappearing act!

I'm very glad the Elves have arrived, but Farrell is such a loose cannon (and those three with him are nasties in their own right), add in firearms in close quarters and I'm not at all sanguine about the outcome! I'm not worried about any of the Reborn because I think a certain Lord of Mandos would not be best pleased to find them cluttering up his doorstep yet again, but battles tend not to end without casualties on both sides.

If what I'm guessing is true, Amroth has something else to add to the burden of those dark years...

Author Reply: Hi Lyana. I'm glad you liked the hidden tunnel and disappearing act. I thought it was a nice touch. *grin* And you're right that in battles there tend to be casualties on both sides and we'll see just who ends up being one in the next chapter.

As for what you may be guessing, only time will tell if you're correct.

Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

I thought this kind of thing might have been Farnell's reason: his attitude stank of revenge. I just didn't list it as a valuable reason. Too many casualties to jutify revenge, for one thing. And besides, I don't believe in revenge, even though I sympathize with the grief...
This is a cliff I can bear... a hopeful and positive one!

Author Reply: Hi Malice. Farrell is obviously too obsessed to care about the casualties in his wake, which is a pity. I think he wasn't a bad agent, but he allowed his feelings to get the better of him. We'll see why this is so eventually. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

Hopefully Alex and Artemus will get along in the future, now that Artemus has proved that he really can be a useful sort of guy to have around... :-) And I see that the Three Amigos have noticed that Artemus and not Alex was the one who managed the escape from the kidnappers.
The young ellyn seem to be growing some sense - they did not heroically rush in to rescue their friends, even though it was clear that they were being abused, but instead waited for the older and more experienced Elves to come to their aid. And this way the youngsters could give what information they had, to help with the rescue in that way.
It makes sense that there is a back way into the grotto to prevent delivery vans and such from spoiling the Santa magic - and those agents have clearly not done their homework. If Farrell thought that he might need to use Santa's Grotto for something in connection with the kidnapping, he really should have studied the plans for it, given that it is a man-made structure. Not that I'll complain too much - his sloppiness is in our heros' favor after all! ;-)
Artemus is certainly a smart cookie. It is fun to see how he confounds the agents simply by telling them the truth about Elf Academy. It is legit after all, and it is a school for training tour guides. That is not quite all it is, but let's not quibble. And anyway, I don't think that Farrell and his sidekicks are prepared to hear that the Elf Academy is really there to prepare humans for Ragnarok. So Farrell did learn something about Amroth from Bradford. I do wonder about how much and what he learned - and how he learned it.

Author Reply: Hi Sunny. I think Alex will see the value of Artemus now and he will befriend that part of him and become whole.

The Three Amigos are getting quite an education and learning wisdom which can only come from experience, and that's a good thing.

And I don't think Farrell intended to use the Grotto for any reason but simply beat Artemus to it, knowing that that was the only place they could have gone cnosidering the storm and all.

And sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. People expect to hear bad things about something and when they don't they think they're being lied to when they're not.

As for what Farrell learned from Bradford, we'll learn about that soon enough.

I appreciate you taking the time to read and review. Thanks.

Bravo! I was glad the Zach and Derek were out of danger, it is easy to perform a rescue or save yourself without risking your friends, I supposed, never being in that situation....Well, Artemus is quite resourceful, I could have never guess that yoga can help in loosening ropes. And the elves are in action! good, very good. And finally, some hint on who Farrell is. And if they keep hitting Alex in his head, he will have a permanent damage, he is still recuperating from the accident. Liked that the three amigos way of thinking, you can see that they are green in his dealing with evil and I liked that they have the opportunity to see Artemus at work....Friday, then? no more surprises for Wednesday? Please!

Author Reply: Hi Fantasia. Artemus is a very resourceful guy and he's had excellent training, something that Farrell seems to have forgotten. Poor Artemus. He's taken quite a few knocks, but he's tougher than he seems and he's a survivor, so I think he'll do okay. And the Three Amigos are certainly getting a lesson on human evil as well as human bravery, that's for sure.

Sorry, the Wednesday posting was a one-shot. It's back to Mondays and Fridays from now on, but you're used to that, so it shouldn't be that much of a hardship, right? *grin* Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I greatly appreciate it.

Ah good, the Amigos found the rescue party! Now the fun can begin!

Oh yes, the back entrance! Farrell and his cohorts very likely don't know about it and won't expect anyone from there. Perfect!

*snicker* Of course Elf Academy is mainly there to train tourist guides, but Farrell obviously expected something sinister and illegal he could use against them. His bad.

You know, Farrell is quite the coward, trying to force Alex to do his dirty work for him, just because he himself is too incompetent. Nice excuse of wanting Amroth to experience the betrayal, but I don't really buy that.

Ha, I knew it, Farrell had to have something to do with that Bradford guy! It was the only explanation that made any sense to me, considering his strange obsession with killing Amroth. And btw, Farrell behaves like a child that doesn't get his desired toy or candy just because Alex doesn't take his faked termination order for real. That guy needs a life and a better hobby than killing someone!

The tunnel to the grotto proved to be very useful, even if they certainly hadn't the purpose of sneaking away hostages in mind when it was built. I am really glad that Derek and Zach are now safely out of harms way! Alex may still be a prisoner, but he can deal with much more than these two. Besides, the Elves won't allow Farrell to do any more. I just hope Zach and Derek aren't too badly injured.

And that's why I am not that terribly worried about the new cliffie. Knowing that the Elves are just a few steps away does a lot to reassure me that things will go more or less smoothly now. Guns or no, I still don't believe these guys will be much of a match for the Elves – they are too fast and have the surprise element on their side. Of course, if someone decides to use Farrell for archery target practice, I'd not complain. Though the cave might be a bit too small for that sort of weapon.

Can't wait for Friday, as usual!

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Yes, Farrell is somewhat cowardly, but most bullies are. We'll find out just what Farrell's relationship to Bradford was eventually. It will all come out before the end, I promise.

Derek and Zach aren't too badly injured but they didn't get away scot-free, especially Zach. But, unfortunately, it is often the innocents who suffer in such situations.

And we'll see how the Elves handle the situation at the Grotto in the next chapter. There are still a few surprises left and they're not all good.

Thanks for commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

If Bradford was so 'good' how come Amroth killed him, just knowing who he is would not be enough for that, surely, there has to be more to it than that?

Yay! Glaur/rod to the rescue, ouch, hope all are not too badly banged up and that Ratty gets his just rewards, a visit to the Lake Monster would be good!
Just who are Ratty's associates, looks like there are a few rotten apples in the agency's barrel!?

Waiting for Friday, still have the pinky toe nail on the left foot to go!

Huggs,
Lynda

p.s. B.H. is doing well, still has a ways to go but he is getting there!

Author Reply: Hi Lynda. I'm glad to hear that B.H. is doing well. That's great!

Bradford... well we'll learn a bit more about him soon enough.

And we'll see how everyone fares now that the battle is on.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's always appreciated.

Hey, where did they go?

I was giggling. Reminded me of Bugs Bunny's 'which way did they go.' Poor Mortals. Frustrated. About time! It must have been fea-satisfying to the Elves to hear the exclamations of wonder and distress. To be a fly on the wall at that moment!

And 'all hell broke loose.' I must say, being the impatient one, that it is about time!

I did strongly feel for the Three Amigos. I do so hope they have their own moment to 'play' with Farrell and his thugs.

GREAT chapter. *deep satisfied sigh* I know Alex/Artemus is not out of the woods yet, but I know there's hope.

Author Reply: Hi Agape. It is funny and the expressions on the agents'faces must've been priceless when they saw that their prisoners had vanished into thin air.

We'll see how the Three Amigos fare, as well as everyone else in the next chapter. And yes, there's hope, now that Glorfindel and Finrod and all the others are on the scene.

Thanks for leaving a comment. I appreciate it greatly.

Oh--revenge, is it? Hmm! Seems that Farrell is a few years too late, and even more dollars short. Now, to learn what he was to Amroth's former nemesis....

Love the comment by Alex/Artemus that Farrell is losing his prisoners with regularity, and hope that we get Farrell as a prisoner this time! And why are Pegg and this other guy agreeing to back Farrell up?

Author Reply: Revenge is a nasty word and a tricky proposition, and as they say, revenge is a dish best served cold and Farrell didn't have any evidence of Amroth's continual existence until recently, so the whole revenge motif is a new thing or rather an old thing that's been resurrected. As for the other agents, who can really say what their motivations may be but I suspect that Farrell hasn't been exactly straight with them either.

Thanks for reviewing, Larner. I appreciate it very much.

Another great chapter and yet another cliffhanger - yes I know you warned us but I am still waiting for Friday to come with great anxiety. I am really enjoying this story - it certainly brightens up my Monday & Friday lunch hours.

Now to see what Farrell does- or to be more accurate what the elves do - or both....

Author Reply: Hi Arwen. I'm glad you are enjoying the story, even with the cliffhangers. There shouldn't be too many other cliffhangers left, at least not any that are as tense as the ones we've had recently, so you can relax a little bit after Friday. *grin* Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It's much appreciated.
