Poor Noddy! It did seem a good idea at the time.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Again, I love this version of the old tale! Yes, I do like this one, and love seeing that Rosie also is able to tell a tale to keep the children enthralled with her words!

Author Reply: I wanted to frame this story a little, to do justice to the original opening about "grandmothers of grandmothers", and I began to wonder, with such a wonderful storyteller as Sam in the hole, how often Rosie herself got the chance to tell stories! So I thought this was a good occasion to try out.

I don't know that it's as charming as the original, but I hope that it's very hobbity!

Oh, absolutely delightful, even at midnight when I have to get up too early in the morning...

(I remember that story. What fun to hear the hobbit version!)

Author Reply: That story was one that quite stood out among all the other folktales in the same volume; I LOVE those old orange backed Childcrafts! I'm not sure that the hobbit version is quite as charming as Wanda Gag's beautifully charming and eccentric RL version-- but I am glad that it seems to come across as hobbity!
