A Long and Weary Way  by Canafinwe 3 Review(s)

Fog is better than nothing, but it will not fill his water skin. At least he gets water slowly and is not in danger of drinking too much too fast. But how much fog do you have to breathe to re-hydrate? I hope it will start to rain in earnest. It seems his plea for help to the Valar was heard even if he didn't voice it aloud.

This is one terrifying journey.

Author Reply: The Valar have their ways of answering earnest prayers, heard or not. I'm pleased it's terrifying. Thanks!

What an agonizing, tormented (physically and otherwise) journey this is. One would even feel sorry for Gollum, trying to survive in these lands.

Author Reply: Tormented is the very word! Frankly I've always been amazed that Gollum could survive in these lands at all.

So Ulmo did hear the plea! Poor Aragorn. I doubt he ever told anyone how hellish this portion of his hunt turned out to be. Great writing.

Author Reply: Thank you! I agree; at least he certainly never told Gandalf the whole story...
