Smelly Orcs  by Levade 11 Review(s)
Raksha The DemonReviewed Chapter: 1 on 5/7/2014
Loved this refreshing and funny story! The kids are very well written, as are their parents. Aragorn's unease is perfect; he didn't have an extended family with lots of little ones as he was growing up, which might have prepared him better for fatherhood. But he's doing his kingly best!

Author Reply: No, he didn't have a lot of interaction with children (if any), but he's sure getting a crash course now. Luckily he's used to that! Thanks so much, Raksha!

LOL! Kids. You gotta love them even when you could cheerfully drown them. Loved Aragorn here in his father role. I wished he could've been my dad. A lovely look at the royal family Levade. Thanks for sharing.

Author Reply: Thanks so much, Fiondil! Never a dull moment, that is the truth.
Take care :)

Hee hee... I enjoyed this while beta'ing and I enjoyed it even more as the finished product. What a pair of rapscallions! I giggled throughout, but particularly at Eldarion taunting his sister by wiggling his loose tooth... such a big brother thing to do, that. :D And Aragorn's inner dialogue is such a hoot. Fatherhood agrees with him, whatever he might say to himself about its challenges.

Author Reply: That tooth wiggle always grossed me out as a kid. My brothers were awful (and I wasn't...of course, LOL)! Ah, Aragorn would be a terrific father! But there had to be moments he just wondered if wandering a bit might be the thing. ;) Thank you so much Cairi! :)

The logic of children never fails to amaze us! Glad these two aren't mine--although mine were just as prone to their own brands of willfulness!

Author Reply: One of my brothers and I had this conversation, and he fell for it every, single time. It was great! Well, for me. I'm sure my parents wanted to box us up and ship us to Antarctica! Thanks much, Larner :)

LOL. not sure I would call it "humbling" Levade, more like driving us insane. Very charming story. I imagine even Royal children act like, well children.

Thanks for the lovely read.

Author Reply: Ah, well, I went for the polite word, but yes, there are moments of muttering and feeling very unglued! I can't imagine Aragorn & Arwen's children always being perfect. Too much intelligence and mischief to be anything but lively! Thanks so much, Eliza61 :)

This made me smile after a challenging day at the chalk face. A cute story and so very reminiscent of my daily struggles with my own children...but would parents have it any other way? I think not!

Author Reply: Never a dull moment, and I can't imagine Aragorn ever having children that didn't, at one point, make him mutter aloud and dig deep for that famed patience! Thanks so much, Shadowbride! :)

I am DYING. This was so adorable and hilarious! Sure, they got their happily ever after, but you know their kids were gonna be a handful and a half. I love this so very much, and you crafted the kids' personalities so wonderfully. Oh jeez, I can only imagine what it's going to be like when the youngest is old enough to get into the mix.

Love this story, it really cheered me up after a tough day. Great job and you have a wonderful week!
Take care,
-Kevana

Author Reply: It was fun to write, so I'm thrilled you enjoyed it! This was actually inspired by a conversation my brother and I had at one point in our childhood, and if we 'normal' kids could be that way, well... I imagine Arwen & Aragorn had lively times with their bunch! Thanks so much! It's always my goal to get a smile, so you made my day with your comment! Take care, Kevana :)

Aragorn would make a wonderful father and 'Uncle 'Ro' is very wise. I feel like I should feels sorry for Aragorn, but I don't. He was probably just as much trouble as a child. Thanks for a fun read!

Author Reply: I have no doubt Aragorn was a lively child who put everyone around him through their paces, lol! I'm sure he was a terrific father - he's so patient! Thanks, Hawkeye :)
