A Holiday Feast  by Larner 9 Review(s)
LindeleaReviewed Chapter: 25 on 12/26/2014
Ah, yes, First-footing. Sounds like such a lovely tradition. I think Ferdibrand was the most successful first-footer in history, at least so far as my own stories go... (and he wasn't even first-footing! at least, not intentionally...)

Author Reply: And as so much of my own imagination regarding the Shire and its traditions was sparked by your writings, I'm glad that dear Ferdi and his fateful Yule came to your mind immediately. I do like your Ferdi!

O and it seems a joyous Yule feast was had by all! I am so glad! I do hope your Christmas was just as delightful Larner! :)

Mum and Dede (her best friend/coworker, who lives with us) and I had dinner out at Denny's with a child from Dede's class and the child's mother. We had meant to go to BJ's Brewhouse & Restaurant, but they were closed! Someone did not do the research beforehand! Heh! Luckily Denny's is open 24/7/365...although I do feel sorry for our poor server, attending half the restaurant by himself! I had a rather hobbity meal, but nothing so grand as this Yule spread! I do wonder what the recipe for non-alcoholic wassail is, if you'd care to share it? :) *hopes*

I see there's one last chapter for today, so onward!

Author Reply: Well, we had to get through the whole alphabet, right? Heh!

Have been in a similar situation on a holiday, not having checked to see who might possibly be open until the last moment, merely assuming someone would still be serving while we hurried to get to our destination with time to settle in before a late dinner on Christmas Eve with no one having had breakfast or lunch as yet.

And the Yule feast must be plentiful, or so I've found! No gruel about my place on Christmas Eve or Day! Heh!

Author Reply: And the recipe can be found at:

http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/cider-wassail

and on the LOTR GenFic list. Enjoy!

"Ende gut alles gut", as the Germans say. I'd have loved to be part of the feast.

Author Reply: I think so, too. In English we put it, "All's well as ends well." But there is one last little note, still. Happy Boxing Day!

Wonderful celebration, especially Frodo's dancing! :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I doubt he's dancing at the moment, though. His last Yule exploits were perhaps slightly more perilous. Heh! Joy to you.

Joyous Yule, my friend, and thank you for this glimpse of a Shire feast.

Author Reply: It has been joyous indeed, with lots of good friends, and a new sister of sorts as of this time.

Love to you, also, at this wonderful season.

This was adorable. It was fun to read each little addition each day through the season. Wishing you and yours a joyous Christmas and a blessed New Year.

Author Reply: It's been fun, and I hope everyone enjoys my little Boxing Day addition. Heh!

May the new year strengthen all of us!

Decided to review at the end since these were all so short. I enjoyed reading these and I congratulate you on getting through it all. It was fun trying to guess what the next letter would be. It sounds like a wonderful feast and I probably gained a few pounds just reading about it. LOL! Merry Christmas!

Author Reply: You were one letter premature, you'll find. Heh! I think we all felt we were gaining weight with this one, and hope your own Christmas feast went well! It was fun to write, and now to finish my Yule Exchange story, which will be added just after Yule in Lindelea's "To Tell a Tale."

When Bilbo fell into bed, it was with assurance that all was right with his world.

If that isn't the best reward for all Bilbo went through to prepare this grand feast!

Thank you very much, Larner, for all the time you invested in the creation of this story!

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year :-)

Author Reply: And the same to you and everyone, Andrea. Although there is still one more letter to get through! Heh!

Merry Christmas to you. Thanks for all your hard work. I love your stories.

Author Reply: And to you, along with a wonderful New Year as well. One last comment, and the story is now, and only now, finished! And thank you so!
