Oh, this is lovely. Restoring old traditions will go a long way in establishing Aragorn as the chieftain. I like the way you have the family interact with Aragorn.

What a great story. I have always liked stories of Aragorn's return to the Dunadaen and this is a truly great one. The characters are nicely developed and the scenery powerful. I wonder if you'd do a few more in this A/U as Aragorn tries to settle into his new responsibilities? I thank you for your hard work on this and wish you the happiest of yuletide holidays.

"First Footing" is an ancient tradition, and one that is delightful. An excellent tradition indeed, and I rejoice that Aragorn was able to play his part so well.

Lovely introduction to his own people's traditions.

What a marvelous, moving story. I love it when Aragorn is among his people, learning from them and helping them to kindle hope for a new year. He'll treasure his father's knife as much as the children will treasure the Chieftain's gifts... and the adults will treasure one another.

We do not have much here, but we provide what we can for our loved ones.

And so do we all. Thank you for this lovely Yule story.

Author Reply: Thank you for for your kind words, Shirebound! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed the story. And I am glad that moment stuck out to you...in some ways I feel like it's one of the most important lessons Aragorn has to learn in these early years.
