My first thought was of Aragorn in the Morgal Vale and those awful stinking flowers.

That is, in a way, a scary poem. It's a bit... Gollum-like. Things slinking in the dark, leaving only bones and living in slimy places, just like Gollum. I'd quess that you took some inspiration for both him and the surroundings of Mordor from that poem, especially the valley of Minas Morgul.

Ooh, but one can see Gollum lurking beneath the mountains and looking for something to eat in the pools of the Dead Marshes, orcs and Shelob in the Ephel Duath. One can hear Gollum's feet following after the Fellowship through Moria, and smell the reek of the tunnel of Cirith Ungol, hear the whining voices of orcs, fear the violence of all evil creatures drawn to Sauron. I can well understand why this influenced your own writing.
