Oh yay! I'm so glad I finally got to read this.it's just lovely to have a new tale from you!

I am very curious about Gandalf's little conspiracy--but he's right, no one could set the bait like hobbits!

Author Reply: Awwww, thank you. The hobbits definitely enjoyed that little tease.

Shiremom is proofreading chapter 3 as I type this! I'm delighted that you're enjoying this new tale. :)

Ha! No quicker way to get a Dwarf's interest than crystal and gold...

It's true, though, that Gimli is alone in a way the others aren't. Even surrounded by friends and loved ones, to be unique among them as he is could be very lonely. Glad they're working on finding something 'dwarvish' for him -- show him that he doesn't have to change who he is to fit in in his new home....

Author Reply: I'm so glad you like the premise of this story! I just five minutes ago finished writing the rough version of chapter 3, and hope to polish it in the next few days. :)

Hehe so cute, the way Frodo and Sam told Gimli how they got that gold!!

Author Reply: Why tell a story quickly when it can be enjoyed and drawn out (while giving Gimli a chance to eat a good breakfast)? :)

Oh Shirebound, this is sweet!

The beginnings of the Gandalf/Hobbit plot takes shape; haha I love Sam and Frodo working together here, all with a "good" in mind.

And the heart clinches it does, at Gimli asking for the berries and the second helping of Hobbity eggs. It may take a while, but I think Gimli will find more than gold and crystals on his quest.

Thanks for a great little read. I look forward to the rest of it.

Author Reply: I think Gimli will find more than gold and crystals on his quest.

I think so, too. :) Thank you again. I'm roughing out chapter 3 little by little, but this week is going to be busier than the past weeks have been.

Getting to the Point... Eventually

LOL!!! If there ever was a perfect title - this is it :-)

I love it how Frodo and Sam kept chattering on about unimportant details and how Gimli became more and more curious. He was about to burst!

And what a relief to find out that he would be able to inspect that tunnel himself just the next day!

I'm looking forward to reading more!

Author Reply: Thank you, Andrea. Frodo and Sam have been through so many somber and serious experiences, I think it would be a pleasure for them to simply 'chatter', especially for such a good cause. :)

Oh there is so much love here between Gimli and the hobbits. I love how Gimli thinks about them. Fixing his braids to be presentable in their working kitchen. (-: I'm very curious about this crystal. I'm figuring Gimli is looking for mines and stones to work and make into a presentable mine? And they have found one for him maybe I"m guessing. (-:

Author Reply: Glad you're enjoying this! There's something ahead for Gimli that he doesn't guess, and hopefully the readers won't guess either. (I'm still working out the details, and having fun doing it.) :)

Such a sweet chapter, love all the banter and what Gimli said about dwarves knowing or not knowing gem from another :)

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm having a good time writing this. :)

Well, that's the way to whet a Dwarf's appetite, and no mistake! Heh!

Lovely ruse being used here. Ah, our beloved Hobbits!

Author Reply: The hobbits have cut through his gloom, and whet his appetite for something new. Praise them! :)

I'm like Gimli when waking up!

Good to see Gimli so much happier.

Author Reply: Gimli has an interesting and (hopefully) very delightful experience ahead of him. Thank you for reading!

Hehehe. I love how Sam kept telling the unimportant parts of the story. It was all so natural that Gimli can't possibly know it was in any way planned.
I liked that Gimli wanted to please Sam by opening the windows. I'd be happier with Gimli's way of waking up. Less sunlight and more dark. : )

Author Reply: I love how Sam kept telling the unimportant parts of the story.

Praise from the praiseworthy, my friend! :)

It's interesting to imagine these three living together.
