Oh, Sam.... :-( Nice for him to have a break, but this definitely isn't the way you'd want to get one! I laughed at 'ninnyhammer', it's such a 'Sam word'... :-P

Author Reply: It is, isn’t it? =)

And I agree that that's not the way anyone would want to get a break!

Love these bits about don't worry about Frodo, consider yourself on holiday, and Frodo saying you can fuss over me after you are well. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thanks. Glad you liked it! Sam's fortunate to have friends who care about him, isn't he?

A lovely hurt/comfort story. I especially like how Boromir is one of the people who comforts Sam, and how Sam might realize from this that everyone is looking out for Frodo (nearly) as well as he is.

Author Reply: Yes, Sam realizes by story's end that he's not the only one looking out for Frodo; they all have a vested interest in seeing his master safely to Mordor and back. And Boromir shows more than once in the book that he cares about the hobbits, so it makes sense that he would seek to comfort Sam when he feels foolish about falling into the gully.
