An Alphabet Book for the King's Children  by Larner 6 Review(s)

Oh, the first age is beleaguered by sorrow. I think there will be tears before this is over, though I sorely missed perhaps a footnote for Boromir.

Author Reply: There is one to him later on, you'll find. Thinking of which, I need to do my next chapter of In Empty Lands.

Ah, all the "begats"! So many B's in the Silm - I dunno whether the Fin's beat them out or not! Heh! But I do apologize, dearest Larner - life did indeed run away with me, and though I've been reading faithfully, I haven't been reviewing. I shall rectify it right now! :)

I had a good cry over this one when I read it - happy tears - thinking of dearest Finrod and Glorfindel, and my atto indonyo's vision for them. I do hope he's able to see this from the vantage point of, oh, say, Tilion or thereabouts...or wherever Eru may be keeping him. I'm sure he would have loved this series too!

(And that reminds me, a certain yearly re-read is coming soon! But Advent first, then Christmas and New Year's, *then* I may toast the Professor :) It's just so close, I can hardly wait!)

Author Reply: Oh, but it was fun to borrow from the Bible to put in the begats--I felt this was most appropriate for the Bs in particular. Finrod and Glorfindel are so worthy of appreciation and the honor each garnered to himself. And I'm certain Fiondil is getting a kick out of all this! Heh!

As for Transformation, I may raise a glass of charonnay to it this year myself! Thanks so very much.

I never realised so many of Aragorn's ancestors had a name beginning with B!

Author Reply: When I looked at the lineage of the House of Beor on the Encyclopedia of Arda, I found I had to take a page out of the Bible, as it were. If the Noldor Elves were riddled with Fs, the House of Beor is definitely filled with Bs. Heh!

The "begats" can be quite confusing! This is a great history.

Author Reply: Oh, I know. I remember reading a book in which a little girl loved the "begats" in the Bible, while I found they caused my eyes to glaze the first time I read that section through from beginning to end.

And thanks so!

A very nice idea and a great gift for Aragorn's children!

Some say that Finrod did not remain by his father's side forever but returned to Middle Earth to prepare for the Last Battle. Who knows where he is now ;-)

Author Reply: He'd be in Wiseman, you know! Heh! Bless Fiondil.

Thanks so, Andrea!
