This is a wonderful story! Maglor is my favorite Fëanorian...

Author Reply: Thanks! He's mine too :)

In answer to your aside; No, I'm not Lipstick. She wrote the story "Captain Tinkerbell" in answer to a Maglor thru history challenge. It's one of my favorites.

Hi!
So thoughtful and wellwritten about Maglors double feelings about the world, his doubts and struggles.I always love Gandalf too with his wits, humour and sharp comments.Maglor should let go of his selfreproach! I was caught by his still strong love for Elrond. Do you consider to continue this story? I sure would like to read more! You Made the two ” men” play so well on each other.Hope to see more from you either in this tale or other.

Author Reply: I am so pleased you enjoyed it. Maybe Maglor should let go, but he can't - not yet, anyway. As for continuing, it was intended as a one shot, but I am tempted to carry on...I had so much fun writing these two! Thank you for reviewing.

This was wonderful, really enjoyed your characterization of Maglor. Usually he's portrayed as ragged, smelly, and nuts. Glad to see him well dressed and sober, though scarred. Well done Gandalf, too!

Author Reply: Hi! Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed this. I think Maglor probably did go through a nuts phase, but by this point he has made himself get on with things - I had fun writing these two and am tempted to continue, even though this was intended as a one shot.

As an aside - are you by any chance the author of a wonderful story about Maglor meeting Tolkien in the WW1 trenches? Your username rings a bell!

I think this is perhaps one of the truest stories about late Third Age Maglor I've read yet. Love the relationships revealed here, and want to hear more of the story behind the Arkenstone.

Author Reply: Wow, what a compliment! Thank you, Larner. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wrote it as a one-shot, but since I posted it I've been imagining a few ways it could continue, so we'll see...

Thinking this is a stand-alone but still a great little read. You do a lot in not too many words with these characters. Great job. Will keep an eye out for further non-ficlet sized pieces from you. Thanks for your hard work on this one.

Author Reply: You're more than welcome - and thank you for reading and taking the time to review! It was intended as a standalone, but I do plan to write more Maglor tales in future.

I really liked this take on Maglor, I don't think I've ever seen him characterised like that. It was wonderfully written, I could follow Gandalf's thoughts so well, and I especially liked how you conveyed his affection for Elves in general and Maglor in particular. Just brilliant!

Author Reply: Oh, thank you! :-) I didn't actually expect him to turn out quite like this - he was a lot angrier than I'd initially planned, but it felt like the natural way for him to react. I'm really pleased you enjoyed it.

This is a lovely, wistful-yet-hopeful scene. What an intriguing meeting.

Author Reply: Thank you, shirebound. When I had the idea, it wouldn't leave me alone. I'm glad you liked it.
