This is gorgeous and such a wonderful look into Pippin's thoughts. How far he went in his journey, physically and mentally, and became such a great character! Beautiful word choice, and a story I could read over and over.

Absolutely spot on, and beautiful! If I didn't already know how it ends, I'd be weeping buckets. But even so, I teared up.

Author Reply: It is nice to know how it ends already. ;-) But I’m glad it touched you all the same. Thx so much for your comments!

That was a really interesting take on the scene! Not a host (and a hobbit) scared out of their mind, but defiant to the last. I really like it and how Pippin has suddenly grown up - and how he realizes that. Thank you for writing this!

Author Reply: Thank you! I’m happy you liked it. I feel like at this point they may have come out on the other side of the fear, with only the defiance left — at least, I hope so. :-) Thx so much for your comments!

This is a lovely piece. It makes me wonder, how this moment affected Pippin in his later years. As he thought the world was ending, his innate strength and dignity shone forth. I think it probably changed him forever, but I wonder if he ever thought of it later.

Author Reply: It’s a good question. I’m sure the moment did change him forever, as you say — but for myself, I suspect it would have been hard for him to grasp in memory or words after, it being so far removed from the true outcome they experienced. I have a few moments myself which I know were of great importance to me but which are rather shy about coming to the surface now, as it is years later and I am in a different place — in my own mind, this may have been one such for Pippin.

Thx so much for your comments!

How well you have pictured them all to reflect in our imaginations! Thank you!

Great little story about Pippin in fierce battle; finding his raison d'etre amidst the chaos and danger. He's my favorite hobbit in LOTR, and it's fun to see him growing up and cutting loose at the same time.

Author Reply: Than you! Growing up and cutting loose — I like it. :-) Thx so much for your comments!

that was beautiful! I love how you used Pippin's point of view and i'm glad that he wants to represent the Shirefolk in this last stand. Great charactertization, description and i love how you also incorporated battle cries of different languages between the Middle-earth races.

Author Reply: Thank you! I had fun trying to look the languages up and get them figured out — its one of the fun things about writing fanfic, the research bit ... :-) Thanks so much for your comments!

Oh! This is beautiful and heart-rending at the same time. Brave, brave Pippin has indeed grown on this Quest.
It’s lovely to see more from you, thanks for sharing it.

Author Reply: Yes, he definitely has grown — in body, mind, and spirit. I’m so glad you enjoyed it, thx so much for your comments!

Wonderful! What a stirring look at Pippin's thoughts during that last battle. When he looked around at his companions, I could see them, too!

Author Reply: I’m glad! I loved writing those descriptions ... I can just vividly picture them too. :-) Thx so much for commenting!
