A necessary break in the action as they prepare for the final leg of their journey to be reunited with their older children. Wise to separate the girls.

Author Reply: Yes, I'd say so. K.G.

Nice bit of wrapping up. Did you think up the details of cleaning out the wasps' nest at Dol Guldur (the Wizard's protective barrier and Galadriel's taking down the foundations), or is that written out somewhere?

The swim practice was so reminiscent of past experience. As a child, I wondered how my mom could tell I was cold and needed to come out of the water. As a mom, I could see the lips turning blue... The boat journey reminded me so much of kids in the back seat of our car, years ago. "Are we there yet?" LOL!

I'm sure Steven and Gail will be happy to find Kevin a hero and, I should think, honored for his life-saving actions.

The idea of a family link between the Greenwood Elves and the Lorien Elves is fascinating to contemplate. However, I can't help picturing a furry Muppet every time Elmo is mentioned... I'm sure JRRT's Elmo would be bemused.

Looking forward to reading more!

Author Reply: As for the events at Dol Guldur, you'll have to ask Dreamflower about that. She's the one who came up with that scene.

I know what you mean about Elmo! LOL! What's more, until a few years ago, my family owned a Chihuahua whose name was Elmo.

No doubt, you're right about Steve and Gail. However, I suspect they'll be experiencing mixed emotions.

I only ever got to go swimming early or late in the day, when the sun wasn't high, because I sunburn easily. To this day, I have to pick my times for swimming carefully. So I never experienced freezing in the water as you did.
