Reclaiming Khazad-dûm  by Ellynn 3 Review(s)
LindeleaReviewed Chapter: 10 on 3/30/2021
The conversations at the beginning are so reminiscent of teens...

It seems as if Darri and Halldis are kindred spirits. I don't know if "dreamers" is quite the right term, but there's a certain artistry to their perceptions.

I loved this description of Elves, beautifully couched in a Dwarvish context: "Like a beautiful gem you discover in a rock, new and totally unknown till that moment, and you realize you have discovered a whole new world... and at the same time you realize that it was here long before you and that it is ancient. And that it is different from all the jewels you have known so far... but that only now, when you discovered it too, you have the whole picture of the world surrounding you."

Looking forward to reading more!

Author Reply: You know when you meet someone, and at the very beginning you have the feeling that you have so much in common, and that you know the person for a long time? It doesn't have to be a romantic partner, it can be a friend. But you know what I mean. Anyway, that's what I tried to achieve with the two of them.

This point, when she asked "what are they like?" was a difficult one - I had to come up with a good answer. I'm glad if I succeeded. :)

Thank you!

Aha! Attraction is definitely building between the two of them. And all are eager to be out of the woods, under open sky once more, ready for the new life to begin--which includes new alliances--and romances. Heh!

As for the thoughts on the numbers of orcs--I find they make perfect sense. The highest and the lowest are diminishing in numbers within Middle Earth. Dwarves will last at least somewhat longer than Elf numbers, I suspect. But in time even they will diminish as well.

Author Reply: It was such a delight to write their attraction. :)))

What a poetic, and very Dwarf-like insight.

I'm enjoying their "courtship" very much. :)

Author Reply: And I enjoyed writing it! :) Things are going to "heat up" soon... after all, we have young blood here, and not much is needed for it to boil! :D

I'm glad you like that detail you mentioned. :) Thanks for the review *hugs*
