Trust a Brandybuck and a Took!  by Grey Wonderer 618 Review(s)
DreamflowerReviewed Chapter: 2 on 7/15/2004
ROTFLS (the 'S' is for silently, so I don't wake up the whole house!) I can just picture this! The funniest, and yet truest part of this was Pippin's solemn faith in his Merry. Why of *course* Merry would know how to get them down--his Merry knows *everything* doesn't he? How old are they in this one?

Author Reply: This one didn't really have ages attached when I wrote it. I knew that they would both be at least teens, but I hadn't decided. When I moved it here to post it, I decided the ages then. I see by your post above this that you found the note at the top of the chapter. LOL I do that all the time myself! Thanks for reading!

Oh this was too sweet! I love it that Frodo himself saw to bonding Merry and Pippin (although in later years when they ganged up on him, he might have had some brief regrets, LOL!) Merry sticking his finger in Pip's mouth to check for teeth reminded me of the time I grabbed hold of my baby sister's tongue to see how far back it went! This is a great start, and I'm pleased that each story can stand by itself with no nasty cliffies.

Author Reply: I have a few of these little stories and didn't want to post them a lots of little stories on their own so I figured this was the way to go. People can read one chapter, read them out of order, or whatever. They don't really go together other than they are Merry and Pippin. Glad that you liked this one. I could see Merry being a bit of a hard sell at first. After all, he's an eight-year-old lad and most of them are not too interested in babies.

Big ahhh. It's a good thing that Errol needed someone to protect him from the dangers of the dark, or maybe Pippin and Merry wouldn't have grown up so close.

I'm glad Merry weakened - and he could try ear plugs.

Author Reply: Thanks for reading. I only hope for Merry's sake that Errol doesn't snore.

Feel free to read as many of them as you can tolerate.

(In my best "Han Solo" voice): I can tolerate quite a lot.

Luke Skywalker: You'll get it!

Han Solo: I'd better!

Luke Skywalker: You will!

Author Reply: LOL May the force be with you while you read these, Han Solo!
My Yoda voice: "Write more of them, I must. Come, the hobbit stories do, and write them, I must."

LOL...oh, my gosh! Leave it to Merry and Pippin--only their own contraptions would turn on them! Hope more ficlets are on their way! ;-)

Author Reply: I have quite a few of these little stories to post. Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it! LOL

“But don’t get to like me, because I’m going home in two weeks.” The baby kicked him again and Merry smiled. “Good, you don’t like me either. I think this will work out just fine.” - GW

Hehehehe....famous last words!! And I thoroughly enjoy the love and humor that you write between these two.

Author Reply: Thank you! They sort of write themselves and I just listen.

Merry and Pippin ficlets are always nice to read! I'm happy to see your muse has been whacking you over the head. I've been slightly beaten these past couple weeks myself, so in answer to your Happy Returns reply...yes...on both accounts! I need to at least get a good cushion going for my current story before I can move onto a second story... See ya in the next chapter! I can tell this is going to be a good set of stories--but what the heck, ALL of your stories are good! :-)

Author Reply: That's who's been whacking me over the head! My Muse! I'm going to have to put a stop to that nonsensebefore a nasty headache begins. Hey, you wanna buy a slightly used Muse? Sell it to you cheap because we're such good friends. If not I suppose I could list it on Ebay. Let it whack someone else in the head for a while.
I am looking forward to more of your wonderful stories. Thanks for reading!

Merry is a very clever hobbit - but he's outsmarted himself here! Hoist with his own petard. Love the length of time it took Pippin to catch on.

It must be horrible to hang upside down with all the blood rushing to your head. And probably bad for you.

Cleverly written tale.

Author Reply: Thank you! In this case, Merry out-smarted himself by doing too good of a job on the snare, but failing to have a back-up plan. Guess they will have to rely on Pippin's begging. Thank you for reading and reviewing.
