| I'm glad that Merry was able to have a nice visit with his parents and family! Too bad he forgot his key! Silly Brandybuck! Oh, I wish I could see the puzzle-box! Gimli's letter to Pippin was very well done and he found it at just the time he needed it! I was wondering did you mean metal or medal? Or is that just suppose to be a different spelling for medal? It had me a bit confused for a bit there. I hope Merry's mum does stop in soon! That would be great I think for both of them! Looking forward to more, as ever! Thank you! | I loved the "bringing down the barn" story! A lovely touch of humor! You certainly have a flare for funny hobbit stories, in this one as well as others! Author Reply: I prefer humor and so when these things get too dark and almost always have to stick in something lighter. I am glad that you liked it. | Wonderful, just wonderful. The gift was just perfect! It was good to see that Merry had a good visit with his parents. Poor Pippin though. He`s having a rough time of it. Author Reply: So glad you liked the gift. I seem to have a need to work the little boxes into my stories. LOL I thought it would do Merry good to get out for a bit. He and Pippin have been right there for so long. Pippin is still having trouble, but he is slowly doing better. Gimli's gift will help. | |

| Lovely! Merry had a nice visit with his parents,but confided his worry for pippin. He visited the rest of the family and left late with a basket of food for pippin. His Dad and mum told him to tell the Took they sent their love. Merry's mum said she would be over soon. Merry is in a hurry to let pippin know all is well,and as he settles the pony's forgets the basket of food. He has to knockk because he forgot his key,the door opens to find a half asleep pippin. As merry is about to warm his hands close to the fire a fear rises up in pippin from the war and fears merry's in danger,and topples him.They bothe settle on the couch and pippin keeps asking merry if he is sure he dosen't want tea,they soon fall asleep. Merry wakes to pippins cooking breafast, and they eat but merry can tell pippin has news. Of all wonders pippin finally opened the puzzle box.... Merry and pippin look and it is a picture of him in his armor brfore going to battle. Merry always knew when pippin was going to give him a hug,he just knew...Lovely... The letter that gimil leaves shows how much he cared for dear pippin,a metal he gave him. Pippin cry's on merry shoulder over all that makes hi heart ache,in the days that come may that puzzle box comfort him to know he can survive this storm too... | They start out telling storyies and singing songs,and just being with each other... Then soon sam and frodo is off home leaving the two bachelors alone... They seem not sure what to do with themselves,so the sweep,do dishes and clean like you never seen anyone do before... Finialy merry takes pippin by the shoulders and say we have to stop cleaning... Pippin is unsure... What do we do then? It is a question even merry is unsure of. Then anything we want... But the suggestion to going out really seems to bother pippin. Each time merry suggest they leave the house pippin refuses,saying he has a book to read or dosen't feel uo to a crowd.... Merry wonders if merry is getting depressed,but thinks no... Pippin admits before merry leaves for an invitation from his mum that he is afraid someone will make him go back home,he is afraid of many things,and merry will have to fight with pippin's fear,to reach him out of that dark place he wants to hide in... Pippin gives merry the watch and this suggest perhaps pippin fears for merry's return... Somehow merry has to find a way to help pippin,but the question is how? Very good... Pippin didn't bring much,as he seems to have grown at an in-between stage. He is to young for his childish thing and yet dosen't seem to know where to pick up again. Like his cloths and the puzzle box,he is a mystery to himself... Frodo is very upset with merry,sam and pippin... He dosen't want to be treated like a child who is like fragiel glass that could break,he wants to look in thier eyes and see them looking at him as they always have. He wants them to come to him and tell them thier sorrows. But in the end can he do the same,and tell them his nightmares of the past. Pippin trys to cheer the mood by cooking supper with merry's help... And sam now breaks good news of him and Rosie decising they will stay at bag end with him... | I almost thought this was the last chapter the way you suddenly switch to 1st person. It was nice to see Merry's POV though. Love the angst. Poor Pippin is feeling a bit adrift isn't he. He's glad to be in his new home, but at the same time he's probably missing his family (or his sisters anyway) as well. He'll adjust in time. I remember when I first moved out on my own, it's a bit overwhelming! I could completely relate to them not knowing exactly what to do with themselves. Author Reply: I am getting close to the end and I am wondering about the switch. Maybe it was too jarring? A couple of people have mentioned it. Let me know what you think. I need Merry's POV on this, but maybe there was a better way? Suggestions welcome either posted here on by email. Thanks. Glad the bit about feeling lost in their new home rang true with you. | Wow--gotta love the angst. Young Pippin too frightened to leave the house and Merry having to beg for Pippin to follow him brought a tear to my eye. What Pippin said about his fears--that he was afraid someone would come and take him by force from his safe haven. Do you think this will happen? Yeah--over my dead fictional body! :-P Love this story--keep it up! Pippinfan p.s. settling in at my sister's okay--just seeking peace and quiet. You're cool, GW! Author Reply: I am close to frozen at the moment. It's below 30 here. LOL So, you have a fictional body too do you? I thought I was the only one. Sorry, couldn't resist. Glad you love this one. Only two or three more chapters to go on it. I don't think your fictional body will have to risk its life on this one. Thank you for all of the reviews on this one. I love hearing what you think.
