A Took by Any Other Name  by Lindelea 177 Review(s)
Mysterious JediReviewed Chapter: 1 on 2/3/2005
It will be interesting to see how this leads up to the naming of Faramir.

Author Reply: I always had the nagging suspicion that there was some extra significance to the name, and so now I'm going out on a limb and writing about it.

Thanks!

I don't know what it is, but I realy like this story.

So, is Pippin's problem more mental and emotional, or is it more physical? Enguiring minds want to know.

Thanks for the quick update.

Author Reply: It's sort of fun, returning to the timeframe of "Jewels". Haven't written a "young steward" story in just ages. This sort of spun off the latest Ferdi story ("While There's Breath") though the connexion might be too subtle to notice, really... But this story just sort of grew during the latter part of that story as I was throwing ideas at my editor friend, pondering Pippin and Ferdi's relationship over the years. I realised that I have always shown the relationship from Ferdi's perspective! So it'll be a bit of a treat to go the other way...

Pippin's problem will hopefully become clearer as we progress.

Thanks!

All right, now that I've read "Seeing the Forest" I'm all set for the rest of the story. Send it along, ASAP,more please. (*grin*makes puppy eyes*holds out empty bowl like Oliver Twist*)

Author Reply: Glad you read "Seeing the Forest"! I think that story works well, and was suprised that it got so little reading. No, this story is not an attempt to boost readership of that tale... I really did have a flash of "Why *did* Pippin break tradition in naming his son?"

Thanks!

This is really sweet. I love the banter between spouses. Great story!

Author Reply: Thank you! Nice to meet you, and thanks for taking the time to comment.

Ooo, another Lindelea story. Cool!

This looks like it's going to be a fun read.

Looking forward to updates on this and on your other WIPs.

Thanks.

Author Reply: Hope it's a fun read. Has been much more fun to write on than, say, "Thain". Don't worry, haven't abandoned the latter, am just thrashing out the next chapter. It's way too long, has much too much information in it, and needs to go on a serious diet.

Oh, a very exciting prologue! I`m very much looking forward to this story! Pray, will we maybe see more of Merry and Estella in this story?

Author Reply: Yes, there ought to be quite a bit more of Merry and Estella, since this story is set in Buckland during the time Pippin was Saradoc's steward. Thanks!

Well, back where I started a while ago. Looks like we go on from here to the birth of Diamond and Pippin's child then? Maybe, knowing you, a few interesting detours along the way? Loved this chapter. The most exciting prologue that I have read in some time. I do hope it causes other to read "Seeing The Forest for the Trees" like it did me. That is a great little adventure! OK, now I am all ready for the next chapter. Lead on, MacDuff!

Author Reply: Thought I'd answered this review, but guess I didn't.

Interesting detours. Ah, nice turn of phrase. Yes, if I follow the outline and draft chapters already written, the story will end with Faramir's birth, or else his naming day. We'll see!
