Where the Merlin Cries  by Lindelea 93 Review(s)

Sorry to see this end, but all stories must eventually. I'll definitely be reading "Truth"

Author Reply: I both dread and welcome a story's ending... I often want more, and yet I'm happy to come to a happy resolution. However, there always seems to be another story to tell. (Just not enough time to tell them all!)

Thanks so much for your encouraging notes! Hope you enjoy "Truth"!

Aha! The epilogue at the last! And of course this is the perfect one to take over as Warden of the Westmarch! Glad Ferdi is perceptive enough to realize this and push Pippin into considering the appointment even before the Thain tries to convince Sam, only to be preempted by Sam himself.

So glad that this is at last completed. (About time, of course! Heh! Love to the girls, Bob, and the beasts.)

Author Reply: "At last" is right! Especially since I was under the impression that I'd finished posting this months ago...

I've managed to work out the schedule to accommodate a couple hours for fanfic each week (at the not-so-wee hobbits' urging) and so I've begun plugging away again. Doing the research needed before writing again, building a reading list, etc.

Thank you for your encouragement!

At the moment there's a Giant Schnoz barking in my ear, so I'd better quit the keyboard and plunge into the day...

I really loved this story and can't wait for the final chapter. Let us know when the sequel begins. (I hope Ferdi regains his sight.)

Author Reply: See previous reply as to sequels and Ferdi's regaining his sight. His blindness was based in a real case from the Great War, where stress caused a soldier to lose his sight for a dozen years, and then suddenly...

Thanks for taking time to leave a good word!

I can't believe this wonderful journey is over. I really had hope Ferdi would regain his sight before it ended. I shall have to see what other delights you have posted. (Will there be more to the Tenth Walker?)

Author Reply: Thank you so much for your encouraging words!

A couple of sequels:

Truth (Ferdi's blindness actually doesn't hinder him)

On Solid Ground (You get your wish :) )

And yes, the next chapter of the Tenth Walker is nearly finished, and I have carved a regular writing time out of my schedule, at least whilst the not-so-wee hobbits are taking art classes this term! So I have hopes of reading, and writing again, after a long drought.

Thanks again!

A very sweet and so practical a wedding! I rejoice to have seen the two couples wed!

Author Reply: I just love hobbity weddings. I think they'd be full of food and laughter, don't you?

I rejoice that you have bowed to a nagging daughter and have finally finished posting this! Now--Thorn and Thain! Thorn and Thain! Thorn and Thain!

And trust Aragorn to find a way to force Pippin to slow down and smell the roses. And love Gimli's response to Legolas's request!

Author Reply: LOL, she noticed that there was still one chapter lacking, and has continued to nag...

Am writing in Thorn and Thain again, and as long as life stays relatively impossible (as opposed to completely impossible) I will hope to post a new chapter to that one soon, too. Have to do some research, though.

Good for Ferdi. He is finding his worth after all, though I still think he might get his sight back.

Author Reply: Ferdi's blindness is based on a case of WWI shell shock, where a soldier lost his sight (they thought) on account of the horrors he'd seen. Medical science was unable to help him, but his sight did come back on its own some years later.

Hope that's not too much of a spoiler. (!)

See "Truth", "A Comedy of Merrys" and "On Solid Ground" for more.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a good word!

Poor Ferdi. As if he hasn't had enough bad things happen to him, now he loses his sight. Sure hope the Elves can help him. He has a lot more work to do. Frodo could use some healing too.

Author Reply: Frodo definitely could use some healing, too. I think the King and his athelas might help to lift at least some of the darkness...

You've been mentioning a story called "Flames". where is it posted?

Author Reply: Flames is posted in its entirety here on SoA:

I hope you enjoy the reading!

I'm delighted that the Hobbits were safely rescued. I hope the ladies are not punished for freeing them, though I doubt the new king would do such a thing. The future looks much brighter for the people of Harad.

This is such a wonderful tale. I hope the muse has more stories in mind for us.

Author Reply: Thank you! It is so lovely to hear from you. I am hoping to have more writing time in the summer, without the pressures of school and too-full schedule to interfere.

You are right, there is a new wind of change blowing through Harad. The new king has a tender heart, after his mother perhaps, and his father did not have the chance to toughen him up sufficiently to be the same sort of monstrous tyrant.

(I like the young king, and with Elessar's guidance and friendship, I think he'll turn out well.)
