Dreamflower's Dribs and Drabs  by Dreamflower 11 Review(s)

But I don’t think I shall accept any drinks from them.

LOL! So he's perfectly happy with his own size, is he? Wonder what Merry and Pippin would have done if they'd known the effects the Ent drafts would have.

Author Reply: I think so. He's quite content with his own height.

As for Merry and Pip, I think at that point, they'd have accepted anything, poor dears, after getting away from those horrid Orcs!

It's not so easy to believe all these stories about odd creatures, isn't it? I'm not sure I'd believed it myself. One has to see them with his own eyes first.

So Beri doesn't want to outgrow Merry and Pippin? *grin*

Oh, btw, is there any chance that you are updating 'The Road to Edoras' any time soon?

Author Reply: No, he'd rather not need a new wardrobe, thank you very much! LOL!

There is every good chance that I will get back to R2E. Over the next few weeks, I am going to make a concerted effort to make my characters stop skipping ahead to Minas Tirith, and finish their business in Edoras first!

Concise and very (typically, meaning, not crazy like those Tooks and Brandybucks) hobbity. Thanks!

Author Reply: *grin* Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

But I don’t think I shall accept any drinks from them.

LOL!!! A wise decision!

I had completely forgotten that for those hobbits who lived near the Old Forest a moving tree would have been considered "normal" ;-)

Thanks for reminding me again!

Author Reply: Well, I don't know about *most* hobbits, but the Brandybucks most certainly would have had no problem with the concept! But Bucklanders were a hardy bunch--and after all, they knew the trees had attacked the hedge one time!

A clever drabble; very hobbity, and I love the last line. Berilac is a smart hobbit.

Author Reply: Well, he *is* a Brandybuck, LOL! I imagine this meeting as one of the highlights of his journey south.

>>>But I don’t think I shall accept any drinks from them.<<<

That's probably a wise decision, hehehe. After all, new clothes can be costly. ;-)

Author Reply: That's quite true! I'm sure that he saw the troubles their growth spurt caused his cousins

GamgeeFestReviewed Chapter: 20 on 2/16/2009
*giggles* Berry is a wise lad not to accept drinks from Ents. Seeing all the trouble Merry and Pippin are going through with their height in the Shire probably helped with that decision too. ;)

Author Reply: I don't think he wants to go back to the Shire several inches taller! Not to mention that he would need new clothes while on his journey! He does know better than most that Merry and Pippin being taller is not necessarily an unrelieved blessing.

How delightful. A wonderful blend of a hobbit getting a glimpse into a new world, and yet maintaining his practical, traditional nature. :)

Author Reply: Yes, Berilac is a practical and traditional hobbit, even though he's a Brandybuck! But it's a little hard to deny the evidence of his own eyes! It must have been a remarkable sight!

LindeleaReviewed Chapter: 20 on 2/15/2009
LOL! Practical Berilac! (I don't think I shall be accepting any drinks from them.)

I'm surprised he even half believed! Good for him.

Author Reply: Well, *something* had to explain those "growth spurts", and of course, the Old Forest is pretty uncanny--so, half-believed.

But the reality was a bit stunning!

Grey WondererReviewed Chapter: 20 on 2/15/2009
I remember this one! I wonder what might have happened if Berilac had decided to have some Ent Draught. Just enough to be taller than cousin Merry. hehehe

Author Reply: I'm glad you remembered it! I had forgotten it completely! I was over at hobbit_ficathon looking for something else, and there it was, and I was so surprised!

Beri is a very practical Brandybuck!
