Pipeweed and Pints  by Baggins Babe 14 Review(s)
TiggerReviewed Chapter: 1 on 11/22/2005
"I think............," said Aragorn carefully, "..........the drinking contest was an hon............honourabibble draw!"

"Except you're unable to say honourabubble, and we can," Merry pointed out, tripping over the cobbles and clinging to Pippin for support.

"Thass beside the point," murmured Faramir, waving an arm and almost clipping his sovereign round the ear. "Oooops! I beg your pardon, my Lord. I almost took your ear off."

"Thass quite alright," said the King breezily. "I have two!" The pair exploded with mirth.

"I told you they'd all be drunk," Frodo whispered to Sam. "Hope they don't all collapse in a heap before we get there."

"I think we're drunk as well," Sam murmured. "Unless we've got two King Elessars."

"We? You think I'm intoxi......into........intocixa...........drunk?" Frodo tried to look offended but rather spoiled the effect by staggering sideways into Pippin, giggling hysterically.

Oh....The only thing better than a group of drunken hobbits are a drunken King and Steward w/a group of drunken hobbits!! :oD BagginsBabe...This is *priceless!!* Poor Faramir...He really did know of what he did challenging our four favourite hobbits to a drinking challenge. Aragorn did, but he didn't seem too out of sorts to stop it. :oD

Mom gave me her tummy bug and I've been feeling icky all day, so this was some lovely medicine. Laughter really is best medicine of all after all. Thank you for helping to make me laugh!!

Author Reply: I was wondering where you'd got to, as I'm not sure if you saw Chapter 7 of 'Birthday Surprises' last week. Glad you're alright but I'm sorry you've been feeling 'icky' - not pleasant. Glad the story made you laugh and the laughter made you feel better. :-))

Yes, tipsy hobbits - not to mention Kings, Stewards, Dwarves, Elves............. - what more can one ask for? They will be getting plastered again in a future chapter of the birthday story!

Oh yay! That was so fun to see The Bouncing Bunny in your list! I thought you had forgotten all about your request! LOL! I love it!!

And The Pissed Peewit--what a hoot! And The Frog and Nightgown--there *has* to be a story in that one!!

I loved the whole thing--what fun, BB!!

Author Reply: I've always been puzzled about pubs in England called 'The Frog & Nightgown' or 'The Goat & Nightgown' and I explored that a bit in 'Buried Memories.' I love odd pub names. Thank you so much for allowing me to use 'The Bouncing Bunny' - I love that.

Glad you had fun with the tale. :-))

Not Fair BB! This needs a giggle alert at the very least! And certainly a 'not before bed-time if you want to go to sleep' warning.

Having had to try and prevent my rather sozzled best friend from making toasted cheese sandwiches at four in the morning on a camp-site last Summer I feel for Gandalf! *ggg* At least he can shut the noise and the alcohol fumes in the house. A tent is not very sound-proof!

But I don't envy the heads in the morning. Is Gandalf going to let them suffer or does he have a potion or magic to hand. Personally I think he is too evil....er I mean ethical to use magic for handovers!

Author Reply: Ooops, sorry! Should have added a giggle alert. Glad you liked it though - lots of fun and silliness.

Oh dear - toasted cheese sandwiches at 4am! eeeewwwwww!!!!! And on a camp-site too. It's funny how drunk people always want to cook really unsuitable stuff! :-))

No, I don't think Gandalf uses magic to cure hangovers, although he may know a revolting potion or two!

Besides, we might have to carry these two men home at the end of the evening and I'm not doing that by myself."

Those are my beloved jesting hobbits! A night out with these four is just what Aragorn and Faramir needed. And I do love these sweet and insightful moments:

"Esme and Sardoc were very tolerant and understanding. I think I was naughty because I was testing them to see if they would still love me no matter what I did. Thankfully they did, and so did Bilbo." Frodo drank deeply and savoured the taste of good ale.

Author Reply: Tipsy jesting hobbits - what could be more fun? I'd love a night out with the hobbits - and Aragorn and Faramir! :-))

I think a lot of Frodo's wild teen antics were due to his insecurity and the need to try and test Esme and Saradoc's love for him. Losing both parents at such a young age was bound to have an effect on his behaviour and many bereaved children go through a period of really bad behaviour. Eventually he no longer needed to test his loved ones.
