I can only manage One  by Lady Bluejay 30 Review(s)
harrowcatReviewed Chapter: 7 on 1/10/2006
I'm just getting caught up on reviewing the things I have been reading and I needed to pop in and tell you how much I am enjoying this. These are two characters that I haven't really followed or liked all that much but this is great.

Author Reply: It is always good when we enjoy something we do not narmally read. My Eomers tend to be the same - after all Tolkien tells us a lot about him - but all my Lothiriels are different. Take your pick. LBJ

*ROTFL*

I love the way Lothiriel is so practical and methodical about experimenting with the information she has learned.

And I think Lady Elnid is a perfectly delightful OC. Somehow I can imagine her voice as rather like Judy Dench! I would love to see a bit more of her!

And the bit at the end, with Eomer just ignoring her father--priceless!

Author Reply: Yes, I must admit I rather liked Elnid. I will bear her in mind for another fic. LBJ

It's a good thing Lothiriel had enough wine to loosen her tongue. Elnid was quite right to take them all to task. Innocence is one thing and ignorance is quite another!

And it's rather amusing to have her practising her wiles on Eomer. She certainly seems to have come round to the idea of marrying him - even if leaving Dol Amroth and her family is rather distressing.

Author Reply: Well, wouldn't you come around to be happy about marrying him? I certainly would. LBJ

Neither of these two seem very good at scheming! There were some potential revelations at the beginning - just as well that no-one will really mind a touch of impropriety, since all and sundry are determined to get them wed anyway.

And then Lothiriel goes and displays her courageous, bold, decisive streak. Standing up to lions! It's a good thing that Eomer is rather lion-like himself - he will appreciate a bride who is more than a mouse.

My, this is a very enjoyable tale. I do like your brave and forthright Lothiriel.

I am really liking this, in spite of nary a hobbit in sight.

Author Reply: Hi, glad you read it , in spite of there being no hobits. I'll try to put them in a future story. LBJ

I'm enjoying this story and your different takes on how Eomer and Lothiriel met and wed. Your Eomer is really great. Looking forward to more soon!

Author Reply: Thanks. I am just wondering how many more I can come up with. LBJ

A good meeting. He smells nice; he held her nice and tight; she felt safe in his arms. Yep. Promising.

She's going to find it hard to remain quite so indignant. Although she will doubtless enjoy the fact that Eowyn was cross with them all for the same reasons.

(I won't say that some of Lothiriel's concerns seem remarkable petty. After all, she is young, and good at princessing and she's willing to learn!)

Eomer's revelation of a good sense of humour - and a sisterly-trained way of treating females like fellow humans will be a definite advantage to their relationship! “I imagine they would make me marry you.” indeed!

The thought of keeping this meeting secret seems to be quite pleasing to both of them. I hope they manage to sort out a few more secret encounters - that should give them both something to look forward to!

Author Reply: Yes, her concerns are petty. This is what captured me when I wrote it. Not all girls are destined to be self sufficient, super-women. LBJ

Now a library is always a good place to go for information - and the desire to seek it looks promising. And learning Rohirric is a good plan, too. I am sure that, had she not started to make some moves, some of this education would have been forced upon her, but it is much better for the letters and requests to come from her.

(Learning Rohirric from stable-boys might not be quite such a disaster - since the Rohirrim are totally horse-obsessed. Just as long as she knew what she was saying!)

Nice Aragorn. Kind, sensible - and saying the right things!

And this seems to be a bit more of an interesting way to meet your prospective husband than to be introduced in the middle of a horde of Gondorian busybodies. I doubt their first conversation will be about the Field of Celebrant, though.

Author Reply: I doubt it will as well. She certainly seems to be doing all the right things.

Apart from her obsession with her hairstyle and those stupid caps - Lothiriel does have some reason for her indignation. It would have been quite easy to keep the early discussions quiet until she could at least meet Eomer. And she could never have expected a totally free choice in who she should marry - not in Gondor's society.

Still. Meeting Eomer will help! And it probably won't hurt him, either - after all, he's going on the word of others about her suitability, too. Although he did have some say in the matter.

Looking forward to more.

Author Reply: The hair styles become quite important to Lothiriel - I did say she was different. We will hear from Eomer soon. LBJ

Well - Lothiriel did a good job of organising Dol Amroth. And it would be preferable at least to meet your prospective husband before everyone around you makes up their minds that you will suit each other nicely.

But I somehow suspect she might come round! In time.

Author Reply: Yes, she probably will come around, who wouldn't. But she won't be meeting him yet. I had such fun developing her character it goes on a bit. LBJ
