| Ah *sniff* this is lovely Dreamflower, especially that last paragraph. And I also liked the pride Menelcar felt in being the most privilaged of men to have known Frodo before the Ring came to him. Author Reply: Oh thank you! I honestly hadn't meant for the old friend's reunion to turn into an angst-fest, but they started to talk, and the conversation just went in that direction. Frodo, of course, *had* the Ring, ever since Bilbo left. But it was mostly sleeping and quiescent, and most certainly had not yet begun to shadow his life. And Menelcar was able to see what he was like then--pretty much carefree and joyful. | |
