| Ah, newlyweds. They certainly know exactly what to do with a summer day. I like the sense this story evokes of Elrond's fragile side. Author Reply: Elrond was wary, I think. Too many bricks dropped on him. But his trust in Celebrian - and his willingness to open out to her - was very good for him. I have to keep reminding myself that they had 2500 years or so of happiness to bolster them for the events that then separated them for 500. And they were reunited. And this afternoon would have been one of the jewels on the chain of memory. (I'm only surprised they packed up and went home...) | |

| That was absolutely beautiful, Bodkin. It flowed so wonderfully that I could see them there just enjoying each other. I loved Celebrian's thoughts about Elrond's tendency toward prudishness and the way she gently coaxed him around to just where he needed to be. Again.. stunning. I loved it. Author Reply: Thank you, Gwynhyffar. Elrond grew to be rather cautious and reserved, I think. Life didn't give him many opportunties to think that everything would always turn out for the best. Celebrian, on the other hand, was a greatly treasured child - and less concerned about what anyone outside her own circle might think. She was determined to make this a day to remember - and I like to think she stirred up Elrond's Sindar side! | |

| Elves in love are so beautifully poetic. Especially these two. 2 dozen? My goodness! I suppose once they had the twins, they realised that was far too much for two sane beings to handle. This was lovely, Bodkin. The dialogue was simply wonderful. Great job! Author Reply: A friend of mine once worked out that you needed to have five children to make up for the financial investment in baby stuff ... she changed her mind once she had kids and realised that a) they were exhausting b) they were bottomless money pits and c) these soft, helpless little creatures managed to destroy all the expensive baby gear so that it had to be replaced at intervals. I don't know that they were that serious about the two dozen ... and twins can be a bit of a steep learning curve. I like to imagine that they might have added an elfling or two to their collection when they were reunited - but I have a feeling Elrond might have been too wary. Thank you. | ohhh lovely...steamy, romantic, delightful...a bit poignant too, considering events to come. Love your take on Celebrian, just perfect. No prissy elf she! Beautifully rendered vignette celebrating marital love in a way that is at once sensuous and innocent somehow. ~~~{~@ Author Reply: I picture Glorfindel and Celebrian working hard here to persuade Elrond to go off and enjoy his Sindar side. And Elrond and Celebrian have over two thousand years together to come at this point - and three gorgeous elflings to raise. I think, without that, Elrond would have found it close to impossible to endure the last 500 years of the Third Age. Sensuous and innocent... I like that! Thank you. | |

| I cried as I read this, for so many reasons, both personal and out of my deep love of this couple. Thank you so much for giving them a wonderful, loving afternoon to play and love and grow together. This was sweet and sexy and bittersweet, for those who know that she must leave him, at least for a time. I love this Celebrian - strong and steel and playful and full of love. I love seeing Elrond happy... what a wonderful birthday present!! (you know, you do have to say when yours is, or we're just going to arbitrarily assign a date...). Author Reply: I have a suspicion that Glorfindel and Celebrian had to work quite hard to get Elrond to abandon his responsibilities and take the time to play - but they succeeded and it became a golden moment for them. They have 2.5 millennia yet - to grow together and become so much part of each other that even their 500 year division could not really break them. And at least we know they were reunited. Happy birthday, Nilmandra - even if it isn't actually until tomorrow. (Mine? Day before the Queen Mother's. Although she's not celebrating hers any more.) | |

| Poor Elrond, defeated by a fish! I enjoyed the antics as almost as much as Celebrian did, I must say. The playfulness between them is a joy to witness. And Celebrian is such a tease! Not that Elrond is far behind her – she certainly brings out a wonderfully light-hearted side in him. But it’s more than that. These two are so in love. I really like the way she can read him so well and tries to draw him out of himself. It seems like Elrond, because of his reluctance to trust and to make himself vulnerable, becomes quite fierce in his devotion to the person who has taken over his heart so completely. Celebrian’s self-confidence and self-assurance are good for Elrond, I think, but it’s interesting too because he is so devoted to her that in a way, that leaves him even more open – not just if anything happened to her (and let’s not think about that yet!) but if anything even made her unhappy. She’s right that they should have children. He needs a family and he needs unconditional love – and he also needs the balance it would bring. Yet, even if they never had children, she’s already helped fill a void that has been there for too long. And perhaps even more importantly, she’s teaching him to grasp happiness when he can – to enjoy it and to accept it. And for all her strength and independence, she needs him too. They are a perfect fit – they belong together. I should have started this earlier because there’s probably lots more to say. Anyway, I loved it. It’s incredibly sexy and sensual and full of love and hope and devotion. Everything is spot on. Just wonderful. Author Reply: I don't think he was too bothered by the fish - not with a handy Celebrian to divest of her clothing! The Third Age is new and hopeful, they are newly wed - and they are seizing the chance to be happy. I reckon Elrond took a while to give total trust - too many bad things had happened to him - but his wife is very good for him. (Glorfindel must be hopping with glee at this time!) And children are good for him, I think. Should have had a few more.... Maybe in the Blessed Realm. Mind you, there's a possibility that his experience made him better able to cope with their eventual division - and have faith that it would end. Maybe. Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it! | |

| the elf who still yearned for the family he had barely known and ached for those who were lost to him. A lovely, intimate scene. It's interesting to see Celebrian's perceptions and insight into her husband, and marriage, grow slowly with time... and bring ever-increasing joy to them both. Author Reply: They had the better part of the Third Age together - and I think that Celebrian's constant love was very important in helping Elrond deal with the losses he had suffered. She was a strong and secure elleth herself ... until the attack, anyway. And he was reunited with her in the Blessed Realm. (And I firmly believe their sons joined them - in their own time. Elrond knew how to wait - and how to take pleasure in what was available to him.) Thank you! | |

| That was warm and sensuous and exquisite. Nicely done and bittersweet when you know what is coming in some hundreds of years for both of them. You are such a good story teller. Author Reply: Thank you. At least Elrond and Celebrian had about two and a half thousand years - and were then separated for about 500 before they were reunited. Elrond lost so many people who were important to him, that I'm glad he could have Celebrian as an (almost) constant. I think he became a lot happier elf for his relationship with his wife! | Oh, Bodkin, this was gorgeous. It's sexy and loving and sad, because we know her fate. She's right about him needing a family, and in a way, she's right about being always with him too, at least in some form, until the end of Arda. Author Reply: Thank you - I'm glad you think it came off! They have two and a half millennia of happiness - but this wouldn't be Tolkien if there weren't a sting in the tail.
