It Was A Very Good Year  by Grey Wonderer 18 Review(s)
AndreaReviewed Chapter: 1 on 12/31/2006
“You know, Frodo,” Pippin sighed. “She told me how you keep from having sex. She said that as long as you stay out of strange lasses beds then you don’t ever have to have sex if you don’t want to.”

LOL!!! Now, that's good advice indeed!

Thank you for this wonderful, funny story with references to other stories I enjoyed very much, especially the story about Errol and Frodo ;-)

Well, looking back at the year 2006 I'd say I had better! So, I'm looking forward to the new year. Let's see what it brings!

Happy New Year to you and your family! May all your wishes come true!

Author Reply: Violet did know at least one useful thing. hehehe
Thank you so much for reading and reviewing all of my stories this year. It is so nice to know that someone is enjoying them.

The story with Frodo and Errol in the shed is one of my favorites also.

As to 2006, I'm with you. It was not one of my best years. Unlike Pippin, I am ready for a New Year.

Happy 2007 to you and your family too! See you next year!

Aahhh! This was sweet. I can relate to the way Pippin is feeling. In a lot of ways this has been "a very good year". Some stuff wasn't so good, and it has had a decidedly down last morning, but all in all, it was wonderful.

Pippin certainly had a very eventful year. Hope his next one, once he dicides to accept it, is even better.

Happy New Year!.

GT.

Author Reply: I do hope that everything is all right now. Sorry your morning didn't go well. I am ready for a New Year even if Pippin isn't. Thank you for reading and for your friendship. I hope the New Year brings good things your way and that you and your family have a great 2007!

the three cousins stepped out into the night together on their way to the bon fire and into another entertaining year together.

Thank *you* for a very entertaining year, GW! I have no doubt that Pippin will find next year as lovely as the last.

Happy New Year to you!

Author Reply: Thank you and a very Happy New Year to you also! I have enjoyed your stories so much this year. Let's hope that Pippin and all of the Hobbits enjoy a wonderful New Year and that there are lots of new tales to be told in 2007. Take care!

Oh GW, this was fantastic! Pippin has some good points in having an excellent year and why leaving it behind. I just love his logic and the reasoning between him and Merry. Children always can ask these questions about things that makes sense to us, but upon further thought we even don't have an answer to.

Thanks for sharing this GW and I hope you have a fantastic 2007!

Author Reply: Sometimes, like Pippin, I think we are doing just fine with what we have. You are right about children. They ask the tough questions and they do expect answers. Most of the time they tell us more than we tell them. Thank you for reading and I wish you a very Happy New Year!

*giggles* What a fun cousin fic! You write Pippin's rambles so well. And even Errol put in an appearance! I like that Merry thinks Errol is always glaring at him. He probably is! ;D
Happy New Year, GW!

Author Reply: Can't end the old year without Errol, can I? Oh, and Merry is right. hehehe Thank you for reading this year and I so enjoyed meeting you at ELF. I am looking forward to more stories from you with more wee hobbits and maybe some stars? Happy New Year!

What a lot of reminders of delightful tales! And so typical of Pippin to find the brightness in events that others might see quite differently. Such an optimist!

And so natural for him to want to hold on to the year - he's just at the age when kids begin to see time as a river and understand that they can't go back while not realising that that is often an advantage!

His final decision - to bid the year a fond farewell - is a delightful piece of personification!

But I think Frodo is right - Violet Greenholm is a person to be avoided. (Especially by Pippin!) She repeats everything she hears - without understanding it - and Pippin will stir it all up and make something completely different of it. Very dangerous. If highly entertaining.

Author Reply: I'm very glad that you enjoyed this one. I do agree that Miss Violet Greenholm is someone to be avoided and not just by Pippin. Her mother is the real danger but Violet is becoming one too. I am certain that Frodo will straighten Pippin out on this before the Took gets locked into any more closets with Violet! Happy New Year and thank you for reading this year!

“But what about the old one?” Pippin insisted. “This was a perfectly good year and so why do we need a new one? I was enjoying this one.”

That was so *Pippin*! LOL, reading this lovely tale had me going down memory lane on several occasions. I enjoy reading all of your tales, but especially the ones where Pippin is a youngster. You have such a sweet gift for Little Pippin.

And a Happy New Year to you, too--wishing it full of good times and good cheer!

Author Reply: Pippin has that, "If it isn't broken, don't fix it." sort of thing going on here. I am glad you enjoyed it and I thank you for all of your support in 2006. Your friendship has meant a lot to me. Happy New Year, PF!

Oh, but I enjoy reading prologues--especially yours! Usually, there is some comical remark that sets me to laughing.

Here's to 2007! On to the story...
