Aragorn in Mandos  by Fiondil 16 Review(s)
Raksha The DemonReviewed Chapter: 1 on 2/14/2007
Aw, Aragorn called Faramir brother. I've always believed they would have been close friends. And Denethor's learned some sense while waiting for Aragorn.

But my favorite part was when Aragorn finally met Arathorn and they embraced. Father was parted from son so early and sadly; and although Elrond was kind and loving, I'm sure that Aragorn always wished he'd known Arathorn. The emotions they shared in this final reunion seemed very real, and touching.

Author Reply: Yes, Aragorn and Arathorn's reunion had to wait 208 years to happen. And poor Aragorn, try as he might, could not even come up with one memory of his father, which makes the reunion even more poignant to my mind. When I conceived the idea for this story, this was the first scene I saw, although I instantly knew that it was the last scene in the story. I had to 'backtrack' to find the rest of the story.

Thank you for this lovely valentine!

I am sad that I never read any of your fics before today... because they are so wonderful and I truly, truly have enjoyed every word of them as I've curled up with my comforter and laptop waiting out the snowstorm that has blanketed my town all day (and night!).

Your descriptions of the Valar are wonderful, and the people and events of your own imagining have been so deftly woven into those which are canon that I can't help but think that you've been channeling the good professor!

Well done!

Author Reply: Thank you for your wonderful review and I'm glad you have at last discovered my stories (and it only took a snowstorm to do it, too. Lord Manwë does do wonderful work doesn't he? LOL). Anyway, I'm glad you like my descriptions of the Valar. Tolkien really doesn't give us much material to work with so I've had to really think about them and try to give each one a different character.

And as to who's doing the channeling: I think it's a toss-up between Lord Námo and Glorfindel or maybe the two of them are collaborating. *grin*

Who would have thought death could be so happy? This story put a smile on my face, and is a wonderful conclusion to your 'waiting for Aragorn' series. Unless, of course, you choose to show us Arwen's trip to Mandos? I am wondering, though, who else Manwë went to Mandos to visit?

Author Reply: At the moment I have no plans to write about Arwen's journey to Mandos, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. As for who else Manwë went to Mandos to visit, you can find the answer to that in my story "Lúthien's Gift".

Oh, very nice. It was wonderful to see the reunion between Aragorn and the others who had been waiting for him for so long. Thanks for the special Valentine Day gift! :)

By the way, I haven't reviewed the Glorfindel story because I'm waiting for it to be completed before I read it. :) Sometimes I do that with longer stories.

Author Reply: You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

As for the Glorfindel story, you'll have a wait before we get to the end, but I look forward to a nice loooong review when you do send one. LOL

Yay for happy endings! This is just marvelous, and I especially loved Denethor taking that oath... at last.

Author Reply: Yes, I'm always a sucker for happy endings too. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. Thank you.

What a sweet and beautiful story! The reunions are so nice - expecially the one at the end. Nicely done!

Author Reply: Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
