Nice try Gilderoy. but Gondor needs a better wizard then you. I am with Gimli, off with his head.

Author Reply: Yes, Gondor needs MUCH better than Lockheart. But he'd look good as a jester, although he'd never realize just how he fit the job. So glad you read this one.

Well! This wizard sure wasn't sent by the Valar. Gimli is never going to let Legolas live down the House-elf thing! A fun idea...

Re: your intro, did you mean Jasper Fforde, and does that mean the Chronoguard may be dropping into Middle-earth next (make that Next)?

Author Reply: No, I doubt the Valar had a good deal to do with the sending of THIS one, either.

I hate when my mind does that. Thanks for the correction. And of course we will have to keep our eyes peeled for the Nexts, won't we? Heh!

As for Gimli allowing Legolas to forget that one--well, of course not!

Glad it gave you a giggle.

Very enjoyable. I could just picture the scene !

Author Reply: I "heard" it first, then saw it. Comes from listening to the Jim Dale recordings and contemplating getting a new car-quality CD player so I can play LOTR as I drive.

The second option, Gimli! Go for it!

This menace is greater than Sauron - and far more resistant to the power of public pressure, because he's far less sensitive and receptive to criticism.

Author Reply: I'm afraid Aragorn just might find himself wishing he'd followed that suggestion, had such a thing ever happened.

Thanks so for the second opinion! Heh!

I really like your serious stories...but I LOVE the idea of Gilderoy in Gondor! HAHA! (I love him in the book, and Kenneth Branagh's rendition of him in the movie was priceless!)

I am now trying to imagine Gandalf with a wand...and I think I'm glad Tolkien gave him a staff.

"He stood upon the bridge alone
and Fire and Shadow both defied;
his wand was broken on the stone,
in Khazad-dum his wisdom died."

It loses something, no?

Author Reply: I've been listening to the Jim Dale readings (one day I'll have to listen to the Library of Congress reading and compare the two, as many of my blind friends love the reader's renditions there), and then comparing them in my mind to the Rob Inglis reading of LOTR, and this just occurred to me. Had asked the daughter to give me an idea of what to write about, and this plot bunny attacked instead.

As for that verse--Oh, dear, but it DOES lose a great deal with wand substituted for staff.

Thanks for leaving me the note. This story has been pounced upon rapidly, I note.

So Aragorn meets Gilderoy the Golden. Snork! Pathetic House-elves, indeed! How long will it be before Gilderoy is selling snake-oil in the streets of Minas Tirith?

Author Reply: Dreamflower snerks and you snork--I see even more giggles have been generated.

Hmm--snake oil in the streets of Minas Tirith? Hmmmm......

Thanks for the response.

*snerk* That's just--just, well, just--words fail me!

Lockhart in Middle-earth? Poor Elessar!

Author Reply: Glad it gave you a well-deserved giggle, Dreamflower. Poor Elessar, or poor Lockheart? I doubt he truly understands what he's let himself in for, you know.

*falls off chair laughing*

Oh, that was priceless!

Gildaroy in M.E.? Whaaaat!!!!!!! LOL(How ever did you think of this one?)LOL

Author Reply: Well, don't you think he might have considered a different job, just before he lost his memory? Heh!

I have the full set of the HP books to date on cassette, and often listen to them as I make longer drives. As it takes about forty-five minutes just to get to my normal weekend job, I listen to about a side each way; and as I was having to drive back from my daughter's new job last night for well over an hour, I listened to one full tape and parts of two others. Had just finished "The Chamber of Secrets" and was contrasting the voice Jim Dale gives Lockheart with that Rob Inglis gives Gandalf, and the idea hit me. As my daughter drove us down there I whipped out the laptop and started writing, and read it to her as we arrived, before she surrendered the keys to me so I could return home.

So glad it gave folks a giggle!
