Merry Had A Little Lamb  by Grey Wonderer 25 Review(s)

Pippin in a sheep costume - the mind boggles! And I would love to see Frodo trying to restrain himself from laughing at this tail.

Author Reply: Poor Frodo! I do think he must have had a very hard time keeping a straight face around his cousins half of the time. Also, I wouldn't put it past him to serve lamb stew for dinner that night would you? hehehe

With thanks to Slightly Tookish for the nudge, I loved this little 'lamb's tale'!

Poor Pippin! Merry was on the right track, though; they should have charged admission!

Author Reply: For some reason I think of Merry as the sort who has good ideas for money-making ventures. Maybe it is because I think of him as an organizer of sorts and a planner. I'm glad you liked this and thank you for reading.

I love this poem! If we had more summer reruns like this one, we wouldn't complain about them! :)

Author Reply: Thank you! I try to steal from the very best and this poem is a bit of the rhyme scheme of the brilliant Dr. Seuss. Now there's someone whose work can be read over and over and over again!

Your disclaimers always make me grin now off to meet the sheep.

Author Reply: The sheep are waiting for you and you may be surprised.

How cute is this? You are a 'shear genius', GW. Awwww for the wee ones wanting to "pet the lamb", and giggles for poor Frodo wondering what new escapade his cousins could be up to *this* time. (And LOL to Sam waiting to laugh until he got away.)

“You knew it was me,” Pippin sighed.

“Of course I did,” Merry smiled, putting an arm around Pippin’s shoulders. “Whenever I can’t believe what I’m seeing it always turns out to be you.”

*glee*

Author Reply: Thank you! Oh, and many thanks for the sheep photo that I used on my LJ this time. Those are some very wicked looking sheep! LOL

I can imagine that at least part of the fun of having Pippin as a cousin would be the strange surprises. Merry must have seen more than his share of interesting things thanks to Pip. (And that was before he went on that Quest-thing with his other very interesting Cousin!)

Dear Grey Wonderer,

Don’t worry for repeating this poem once again,
For I think it is splendid and quite a little gem!

I love to read of hobbits, not just because they’re small,
They’re smart and brave and funny and some are even tall ;-)

So, I'm looking forward to reading about hobbits and sheep...

Author Reply: Bravo! Great little poetic response! Hope you enjoy this little sheep's tale.

LOL! How does Pippin manage to get himself into these scrapes?

“I am not spending a summer at parties in this wooly thing with wee children hanging off of me and pulling my tail!” Pippin objected.

Y'know, this puts a whole new spin on JRRT's saying that Merry and Pippin became famous for their parties when they lived at Crickhollow...

Author Reply: LOL It does! Imagine the advert:

Brandybuck and Took, Children's party-planners!
Games, songs, stories, food, and special surprised provided.
Also a special visit from Pip the Sheep!
See us for all of your party-planning needs.
Doesn't your little byrding deserve something special this year?

LOL

*L* What a funny story! Had me giggling all the way through, with some burst outs of laughter inbetween. Like here:
“Whenever I can’t believe what I’m seeing it always turns out to be you.”
*LOL* True, true.

You know, I would love to see your stories in picture. Maybe you should find a regessieur, ask that woman, who draws that nice Hobbit Manga pictures ( Mucun was it right?) and than do funny Hobbit cartoons. I for sure would look them. *g*

Author Reply: I'm very glad you enjoyed this one. That line you mentioned is actually one of my favorites as well. : )
As to the art work, that's an interesting idea and Mucun is a brilliant artist. I love her work. I suspect that my hobbits will remain a product of the imagination rather than drawings for the time being though. : )

Ah, another GW chuckler, and posted on a day when I will have some reading time! (In a little while... if all goes well...)

I do love your little poem, and... is this a punny stsory, perhaps? Guess we'll see!

Author Reply: Hope you had a nice day with a bit of spare time for whatever you wanted to do. It's always nice to have spare time.
The little poem is on its second run-through so I have to work on something else for the next time. And with me,things do tend to get punny as you may know.

Wonderful!!

Dear Pip, he's such an easy target. Awfully clever of those Tooks to snatch Merry's knapsack as well.

A joy to read as always, GW :-)

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I do think Pip would have been easily taken in my friends and eager to measure up and be a part of the group so I suspect he wound up on the wrong side of the prank more than a few times.
