Happy holidays, meldonya!

Darn it! My twin said everything I was going to say! (grin!) I loved this so much. I especially like the Wassail Song. And BTW thank you so much for the "Oh, Holy Night" translation you sent me--are you going to do more such transations in the future?)

I did catch Glorfindel's reaction to Legolas undoing his warrior braids and thought it was one of the most emotionally powerful bits of the story (at least to those who have read "Elf Interrupted...".

I had intended on writing a fic for the challenge but it just didn't happen (my muse was forcing me to work on a certain Rohirrim's wedding instead). However, it has been great fun to read the "Naked Yule" fics that you and others have written.

Have a Happy New Year!

Edlyn

Author Reply: Well, she hasn't reviewed "Playing Chess With Lord Námo" yet, so if you hurry, you can beat her to it. *grin*

I usually do some kind of translation of a relevant text for Christmas every year and send it to those whom I know will appreciate it. This was the first year you got something from me. Now that ýou're on my permanent Christmas list....

Truth to tell, I wasn't aware that Legolas was undoing his warrior braids either until Glorfindel turned around and saw him. It rather took my breath away as well.

Glad you enjoyed this story Edlyn. Have a Happy New Year, too!

I love the bits that "connect" this tale to "Elf Interrupted"! Glorfindel's reaction to Legolas undoing his warrior braids, and then stripping off his clothes at the end of it, to dance with the candlelight sparkling on his braid gems with Aragorn and Legolas. :)

It was neat being able to compare the Glorfindel of "Elf Interrupted" with this picture of the former Lord of the House of the Golden Flower. His two lifetimes of experience make him probably one of the wisest of all elves in Endor, and yet we can see that innocent elfling in there too, the one who came out into Aman through the Gates of Reunion.

Legolas is no slouch either, but it must be disconcerting to suddenly feel so young when he looked into Glorfindel's eyes. He could have stopped all of this with one word when he realized that there had been no bet, but he did it anyway. :) The picture of him on Asfaloth, crowned with the holly and candles (a la St. Lucia!) and holding the wassail cup is ones I'd most definitely love to see sketched out. Beautiful!

The implications of the trauma that the characters suffered through in the previous year was interesting too, and I do hope that your muse will tell you that story to share with us.

You did a great job on this! Thanks for sharing this "Naked Yule" fic with us. Merry Christmas!

Author Reply: I'm not sure how many people caught the bit about Glorfindel's reaction to Legolas removing his warrior beads, but I'm glad you noticed. *grin* I like to incorporate aspects of stories from earlier time periods, tying them together even though they are not, strcitly speaking, sequels.

For all that Legolas is much younger than Glorfindel with fewer experiences, he is honorable to a fault and willing to play things out. As he said, he only had himself to blame for his situation. I thought the image of him astride Asfaloth with the St. Lucia wreath on his head and holding the wassail bowl as he comes into the dark hall was a pretty powerful image myself and it was that image that inspired the story. *grin*

What the cause of the trauma might be, I haven't "seen" yet but perhaps someday I will. Thanks for reviewing.

Great story! Very funny. I've been incredibly interested seeing this on your story list. I'm glad that I could finally see it! Do we know anything about what happened before this? I would be curious to hear.

Author Reply: Thanks Nikara. I'm glad you enjoyed this story. Someday, if I can ever get myself out of the first and second ages *snicker* we might learn something of what happened before this. One never knows what the muse will come up next.

Perfect! They manipulated Legolas, but then made of it an honor! Love!

Author Reply: Yes they did manipulate Legolas, although to be fair, they never thought he would actually fall for it, but when he did, Aragorn and Glorfindel knew they couldn't let Legolas "suffer" humiliation alone, hence the "full monty" scene at the end. Glad you liked this piece, Larner. Thanks for reviewing.

Glad you finally posted this. I saw it at your stories list and was dying to know what it was!

*ROFL*
Poor Legolas, he was tricked into this? And Glorfindel neglected to mention that he himself would have been much more fitting for this – I seem to remember a certain balrog-slayer dancing naked in Arafinwë’s court, and out of his own free will!

Ah, I see I am not the only one. After they tricked him in this way, it was only right that Aragorn and Glorfindel joined in the fun. Particularly as Glorfindel has a lot of experience in this ;-)

Now I am imagining the faces around while everyone watched these three dancing naked *lol* Somehow I suppose it’s not what these people at court would have expected!

Merry Christmas to you, my dear!

Author Reply: No doubt glorfindel would have protested up and down, right and left that he was "too old" for such things had he been asked to do it. *grin* I'm sure the whole time he fully intended to strip at the end even if Aragorn did not. At any rate, I'm sure that particular Yule ceremony was talked about for years afterwards and no doubt not a few of the ladies at the court would have been put out because the Queen had forbidden them from watching. *grin*

I will post the other Naked Yule fic in a couple of days.

Merry Christmas to you, too. Thanks for reviewing.
