Fiondil's Tapestry  by Fiondil 715 Review(s)

So Namo isn't going to visit after all?!

I almost expected all of the Valar to show up en masse just for fun! Talk about mouths left hanging open then - Carnifindo would have a full house every night after that I believe.

Loved the story - great way for me to begin my Friday morning.

Author Reply: I'm sure all of the Valar would have loved to have shown up at the inn all at once, but decided not to stress out the innkeeper too much, so Tulkas got to go by himself... and that would've been interesting all by itself. *LOL*

Glad you enjoyed this storý. I'm happy to have made your Friday. Thanks for reviewing

Hi,
I have been recommeded to your stories by someone and they said that you write very good stories! and they were right!

Anyway... I think this is a really good story, but how would Elladan and Elrohir know Quenya, few spoke it, but their Grandmother came from Aman, so would that be where it was learnt?

Very good. I liked the grouchy bit.

Lindale

Author Reply: Hi Lindale. I'm glad you've found my stories. Thank whoever recommended my stories to you for me, will you? *grin*

As for Elladan and Elrohir knowing Quenya... you forget that their father is Elrond, a loremaster. Also it's most likely Elrond learned Quenya from Maglor when he and his brother, Elros, was fostered by that Noldo. And you are correct that Galadriel would have seen to it that her grandchildren also were conversant with the language of her own youth, perhaps preparing them for the time when they might leave Midd-earth for Aman.

Very cute! We never do know who's listening in! :)

Author Reply: I guess not! And I bet Carnifindo and Vánadur both went several shades of red when they realized the significance of Tulkas' appearance demanding a pint. *grin*

So that's why it's called the Laughing Valar! Rather fun way of choosing names! I'll keep that in mind the next time I want a meaningful name! If you don't mind me asking, when are you going to continue with Elf Interrupted?

Author Reply: Yes, it is a rather fun way to choose names, isn't it? *grin* The first chapter of Elf, Interrupted: Book Two should be posted around Palm Sunday.

Ah, so THAT'S how it came to be named, eh? Heh! Count on Tulkas!

Author Reply: *grin*

Long drawn out sigh. Very, very nice. Of course they would talk and do things like this on such a long walk. People have to have some sort of amusements to keep their minds off of more serious things. I love how the change overcame Gandalf as he sang that song. I wonder how long it took him to return to his... oh, truer nature when he returned to Aman after spending centuries in Middle-earth. The burdens he carried were enormous and had to weigh him down.

Anyway, very enjoyable and look forward to more of these short tales. I don't know how you do it, write all of these! :)

Author Reply: Thanks, Radbooks. I'm glad you enjoyed this little tale. I'm sure it took Gandalf some little time to drop the disguise, so to speak, and become Olórin again. It must have been rather embarrassing at times. *grin*

Lovely! Though I have to say that Boromir missed more than nothing. It makes me wonder if hearing Gandalf singing might have given him a bit more armour against the wiles of the Ring.

It was really nice to see this during my break from work this morning, meldonya. Thank you!

Author Reply: One can only wonder what might have been had Boromir too heard the Song of Awakening. It might not have changed anything in the end, but it might have helped him in some manner; we'll never know. Glad you enjoyed this, Edlyn. Thanks for takin the time to review.

Oh, this was cute. Grumpy Aragorn, politically incorrect Pippin - this was really fun!

Author Reply: Thanks SS, I'm glad you enjoyed this. It was fun to write as well, especially Pippin.

Fun and light-hearted - I liked Gimli admitting to himself that he likes to hear Legolas's voice, and especially Legolas's comment about Aragorn. I just loved the shift in style with Gandalf's contribution. The gradual change in his voice to such beauty, and especially the song he sang. It's no wonder everyone was so stunned by it.

Jay

Author Reply: Thanks, Jay. I'm glad you enjoyed this little vignette. Gimli and Legolas are not even close to being friends yet, but the Dwarf cannot help but be as mesmerized by Legolas' voice as the other Mortals.

'Name That Tune' Middle Earth style! I'm sure they had fun listening to songs from all races - what a fun way to learn things about new people!

I have a feeling Gandalf's song meant more to Legolas than anyone else, although they all seemed touched by it on some level or another.

Author Reply: I figured that such a game, especially among Hobbits, would be something that would be thought up as a way to while away the hours. While Gandalf's song probably touched Legolas on a deeper level than the Mortals, given who he is and for whom the Song was first sung, the others nonetheless were deeply touched and it's a shame Boromir did not hear it.
