Cute! I really enjoyed this one!

Author Reply: Thank you. I am always glad to hear someone has enjoyed one of these. Thank you for the review!

You were fibbing to your Analyst you bad girl!

Pippin is learning to be a diplomat with his sister. Survival skills need to be learned early.

Great stuff GW!

Author Reply: I did lie to the Analyst but hey, like you say, survival skills! I have to lie to stay out of the psych ward. (giggles madly)

With three older sisters I think Pippin either learned to be a diplomat early on or a little charmer. With Pip I suspect it was both.

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Ah--that's our Pippin. And Pervinca did get to name it after all! Love that she's not all that original.

I once had a tankful of tropical fish, and the busy little catfish was Sam, of course, and the swordfish were Eowyn and Faramir, and the neon tetras were named after Thorin and company....

Author Reply: Imagine having to name an entire flock of sheep! It's a wonder that Pervinca wanted that job. Oh, well, a sheep by any other name and all that.

I have a friend who has named her fish after the members of the A-Team. Remember that show? Her last group of fish were named after the Three Musketeers. Naming fish seems to be more interesting than naming sheep. LOL

Wonderful!

Hilarious!

Miraculous!

Pillow!

(Merry already has two names for the next lambs, Miracle and Pillow!)

I loved it all, as I knew I would. Not only is it (a) written by you, making it an automatic favorite, BUT (b) the title had me hooked from the start (my being an Oklahoma native and an R&H fan).

Maybe R&H just wanted birds to scurry in their song. But really, that doesn't make a lot of sense if you picture it; chicks, ducks, and geese fly or flutter, not scurry. Well, baby chicks that can't fly would maybe scurry, but their mamas wouldn't let them play in traffic; so they wouldn't need to scurry.

But sheep, now -- sheep would scurry, even little lambseativy would scurry. Or maybe they would scuttle. Hmm. They certainly scamper. But of course "scamper" wouldn't rhyme with "scurry."

"Goats and pups and lambs better scamper,
When I take you out in the -- uh, hamper.
When I take you out in the hamper with the fringe on top."

Nah, doesn't have quite the same image.

But I'll never again watch "Oklahoma!" without thinking of sheep rather than geese!

Hugs and more brownies,
Mum

Author Reply: Awwwww, your entirely too nice to me! Thank you.

Glad you enjoyed my choice of music. Rogers and Hammerstein were brilliant, weren't they? I love a good musical. I also LOVE your 'Hamper Song'! We really need more songs about fringed hampers.

So, I've put a few sheep into "Oklahoma!" for you have I? Well, the sheep will do much better in Oklahoma than they might have done in "South Pacific". At least there's that.

More brownies?!

Thank ewe!

Ah! I was hoping it would be a lamb. Mind you, Merry being disgusted by the general ickiness of birth and then annoyed by the 'miracle of birth' explanation was hilarious.

Pippin and his sisters were hysterical - I loved Pervinca's answers. She's a bright lass, and she did get to name the baby eventually. I was particularly tickled by Pippin's thoughts on what constitutes a miracle! Somehow eating biscuits may not fit the bill, especially for a hobbit. :-)

Great story as always, GW

Author Reply: Oh, good! Someone else was hoping for a lamb! I thought it was just me. hehehe

Thank you so much for reading this and I am glad you enjoyed Merry and Pippin and Pippin's sisters.

I agree with Merry, birth is a messy buisness, any body who talks about the miracle of birth has probably never attended one!Or been on the delivering end!
I have, twice and it is very messy and painfull!
Lynda

Author Reply: Yes, Merry is right about the miracle of birth or at least about the messy part. It really would have been better if everyone and every thing could have just laid eggs. LOL Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Oh, this is delightful, GW! The birth of Dumpling, the lamb from another of your stories. I absolutely loved Merry's thoughts and comments from beginning to end. And he sure has his little cousin pegged. Very entertaining conversation from everyone. Thanks for brightening up my evening!! As always, you really have a way with sheep, lol!

Author Reply: Yes, Dumpling finally got another story outta me. Sheep are tricky that way. I'm glad this brightened your evening and thanks so much for reviewing!

Oh I so love that you did this in Merry's POV! His disgruntlement with sheep goes back a long way, doesn't it?

This was fun--seeing the differences between Pimpernel "it's a miracle" Took, and her sister "Practical" Pervinca was hilarious! And I think it's fun that in spite of everything, Pervinca got to name the sheep after all. I have a feeling that if Pippin had been allowed to touch it, it might have ended up named "Slick"--which would not be terribly sheep-appropriate! LOLOL!

Oh, and thanks for the earworm by the way...dum dum dum dum dum dee dee dumdum..*sigh*

Author Reply: For some reason writing from Merry's POV is easier for me than writing from any of the other character's POVs. I've no idea why but it's always been that way. And yes, poor Merry hasn't had that much luck with sheep has he?

Pimpernel was trying very hard with her 'miracle outlook' but in this case I think Pervinca's practical outlook won the day. So glad you enjoyed them. I like writing the sisters.

A lamb named 'Slick'! LOL

Enjoy the earworm. Maybe it will turn into a plot bunny if you sing it long enough. I'm still singing it.

Thanks for reviewing!

This is my miracle sheep,” Pippin said. “It has a head and everything!”

I loved every moment of this delightful (and slightly dis-custing) birth. Poor long-suffering Merry, but I'm sure he wouldn't miss any of this for the world.

Author Reply: I do think that by the time the entire lamb was out, Pippin really was relieved to see it. LOL I hear that the head is one of the more important parts of the sheep.
For some reason, I don't think Merry likes sheep. That could be my fault.
Thanks so much for reading and I'm very glad that you liked this one.

Bravo!!

Merry is right, birthing is disgusting.
Merry is wrong, birthing is a miracle. ;-)

I loved that Pervinca was the one giving such good answers.

I do love your sheep stories, GW! :-)

Author Reply: Merry, wrong? He'll be stunned to hear it. LOL

Thank you for reading and I'm glad you enjoyed the sheep.
