Tales from Vairë's Loom  by Fiondil 13 Review(s)

I really enjoyed this glimpse of the beginnings of the Second Age. It always tears my heart at the thought of Elrond and Elros separating and you almost always see things only from Elrond's perspective, so it was interesting to read something from Elros point of view. Well, Eonwe's, but to at least 'hear' what Elros was thinking about becoming mortal, etc. Nicely done!!

Author Reply: Thanks, Radbooks. Most people do seem to write about the separation of the two brothers from Elrond´s pov rather than Elros´, so I thought it important to see things from Elros´ perspective even if second hand through Eonwe. I always thought it would be interesting to see stories written about Elros as king and the trials and triumphs he must have experienced during his life. This story is just a glimpse of that life.

Oh, poor Eonwe! The things Manwe and Atar have him do! Atleast he has the other Valar and Maia to call on when he needs help!
Elros is just trying too hard to be what he thinks his people want him to be. He needs to learn how to let others do the day to day running of the realm and concentrate on learning how to guide his people!
One wonders if Elrond is just a little envious of his brother and his future as a king of men and not just bitter at his Choice.
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: Elros is indeed trying too hard. Luckily, those around him realiye this and help him to adjust and learn what he needs to learn to be the great king that he becomes.

You may be right about Elrond, Lynda. There may indeed be a hint of jealousy towards his brother and his future as a king. Still, I think the bitterness is the predominant emotion ruling Elrond at this time.

This was delightful! Poor Eonwe and all that he was having to teach! I thought it amusing that Elros kept getting in the way of others learning and that his own folk conspired to send him away. The peredhil really did have it tough not knowing what to expect of themselves and not really fitting anyone else's expectations either. No wonder Elrond comes across as so melancholy so often.

Author Reply: Thanks, Ellie. I am glad you enjoyed this story. It was fun to write this from Eonwe´s pov. I know many readers of "Elf, Interrupted" enjoy seeing Eonwe so I was happy to write this story.
