The Family Way  by Dreamflower 13 Review(s)

Interestingly, in some rural parts of Germany black was the traditional colour of wedding dress. I think it was so that it could afterwards become the Sunday Best. Certainly white wasn't much en vogue until the mid/late nineteenth century. I don't suit white, so I got married in burgundy. :D

Author Reply: One of my dear friends married in a red, black and white full Elizabethan, complete with farthingale, and it was gorgeous.

I think it was Queen Victoria that started the tradition of the white wedding dress inEnglish speaking countries.

Sweet story, hehehe! And you have understated nicely what must have been the worst, the very worst bit of this nightmare wedding - the pink dress. Urgh! And I thought I had come up with the worst possible wedding dress...

Author Reply: I chose pink mainly because of Rosa's nameflower. But I didn't want to do the traditional "white" wedding gown. That's a very modern tradition actually.

(Oh, that wedding dress in your story sounded dreadful! I was imagining something stiff and vaguely Tudor/Elizabethan in style! And BLACK lace! *shudder* Poor Finduilas! It was probably that dress that sent her into a depression!)

Fascinating what a simple date in the family tree can bring forth! :) Well, considering the age of the bride, the scenario is more than believable. And of course, the different reactions were fun! Of course they now had to have a big wedding, just to show there's no reason to hide ;)

And it was great how you managed to include the first meeting of Bungo and Belladonna!

Author Reply: Yes, Dana and I talked about it over two years ago. And we wondered then if that might be when Bungo and Belladonna met.
