Aha--we KNEW he was a Hobbit with Elven tendencies, even if they come with spoken reports rather than song! Heh! So, she got his old room, did she? Perfect! No wonder the connection between them! And am glad these two denizens of Brandy Hall are able to keep some track of what's going on back home! Heh! Thank you so! Author Reply: I thought that was a nice twist on the regular singing, since Frodo seemed to do such a good job with his history. And I thought the idea of the shared room was a nice parallel to put in place. This is the only way (aside from a stodgy author's note) I could think of to let readers know of the connection. I did mention in my first little Sandbox piece that somehow Frodo knew what exactly happened to the book. Thought I might as well explain how that started here.

So you, too, see Frodo as dreaming he was the one in what proved to be Boromir's funeral boat! A sad foretelling that mixes his own fate with that of the Man he will one day know. Thank you so. Most poignant. Author Reply: Might have stolen that from you, actually, quite inadvertently. But the parallels to Boromir were secondary; boat funerals are a common enough mythological trope that I think it would show up in Frodo's dream even without Boromir. I'm still not entirely sure what I meant when I was writing this, though.

And at last he knows that the study of mythology Bilbo once set him has its place! Wonderful! Author Reply: It's kind of hard not to when you're living among them, isn't it? In fact, now I have this lovely scene in my head in which on the boat Bilbo begins quizzing Frodo mercilessly on the events and especially characters in the Silmarillion, and Frodo being incredibly perturbed because, after all, they're both a little old for this, aren't they?

Dr. Who's associates help collect autographs by the four Travellers? Heh! Now, that's different! Author Reply: I know I would!

Oh, indeed blushing talks! Explaining menstrual cycles to young gentlehobbits! Heh! Author Reply: *grin* I'm always amused by the reactions of males when they first learn about all the biological things that females go through!

I bet Frodo loved reading that note in Bilbo's place, though. Perfect! And love Bilbo sharing his "thinking place" with Pippin like this. Author Reply: I try not to pry into Eressean matters, so who knows whether Frodo will read the note in Bilbo's place or if the old fellow's still miraculously alive after all this time? At any rate it's the thought that counts.

Ahhhh! Rosie and he so deserve one another, and are so right as a couple. Very nice! Author Reply: Yes, they do, and that's probably why I like reading and writing about them so much! Thanks!

Quite the threat, that. Ah, yes, our gallant Merry! Very worthy of his place as sword-brother to the White Lady! Author Reply: I don't know exactly how the neckbreaking would go about, but it's a worthy threat. Perhaps Faramir would already be damaged by the first two assaults to bring him down to Merry's level!

What an expression of compassion and empathy in their deepest meaning. Yes, this dwarf-friend has learned how to express his compassion properly. A wonderful moment, again wonderful in its most basic meaning! Author Reply: Thank you. I'd like to think that after all this time Legolas and Gimli would know how to respond to one another very well.

You met this challenge well! Yes, Kerry and Kira! I'd so love to visit the Shire and that collection myself! Hooray! Author Reply: Me, too! I really do like writing these characters!
