B2MeM: Aragorn in the Last Battle  by Mirach 30 Review(s)

I am bawling!!!

I am in awe. This has got to be the most profound "return to Cerin Amroth" piece I have ever read!

"Where are you, my love? .....the wind dries my tears as your hand would do once, strong but gentle, with a healing touch. I look at the sky, and I see your eyes in its deep greyness. I listen to the wind, and it brings to me the memory of your voice, whispering my name like a prayer and assurance in the same time."........You're breaking my heart!

"I slip my hand into yours. We are young again, and we walk among the birches of Rivendell. It is spring..."

This so brings out my fear of the inevitable and yet it gives me hope and strength at the same time. I can't think of anything to say but.....BEAUTIFUL!

Author Reply: Oh, thank you for the review! If it helps somehow, I was crying too when writing this... I'm so glad if I managed to do what you say in the last line. There can be no greater success to me with this story. Thank you very much!

Oh. *speechless*
At least, in the first moments.

I'll pick out two sentences. One is:
"There is no ship for me, for my Blessed Realm is wherever you are..."

There are many stories from Arwen's POV, describing her love for Aragorn, but this sentence is one of the best I've ever seen, in a way that it perfectly summarizes her feelings: there is so much said, with just several ordinary words.

And the second sentence is:
"Without you, there is a piece of me missing..."

Again, it seems simple, but the way you write it, it is so touching and strong.

Great work.

Author Reply: Thank you very much! I'm glad to hear that those sentences have such effect!

Again, a well-conceived examination of her thoughts as she looks backwards. Excellent bookend moments for a love well enjoyed, and a future she is only now able to contemplate.

Author Reply: Thank you again! I'm glad you liked the sadder second part too!

Ohhh, this is so poignant and beautiful. What a bitter choice, but (hopefully) a forever-love beyond this world and into the next.

Author Reply: She has given up her immortality, but her love stays immortal... Thank you very much!

THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!

"Oh no... it is not her! It is... oh Valar, do I dream or am I awake? Is it him?".... "He stands still for a moment, like frozen to the ground. He beheld me..." This scene is totally heart-stopping!

I'm with Cairistionia--I too love seeing Aragorn through Arwen's eyes.

A very beautiful piece.

Author Reply: Thank you very much! If if would be a movie, this scene would be a slow-motion ;) (And if it would be a manga, if would be a slow-motion with pink background and many little hearts... thanks god it's NOT a manga! :D)

After my mother sailed, I lost the support that anchored me to the soil; but not with him. With him, I am strong like a tree growing entwined with another.

The tree analogies here are beautiful, and very perceptive. This is a wonderfully romantic piece.

Author Reply: Thank you very much! As I said to Cairistiona, there is a poem in Tolkien's biography, about him and Edith, comparing their love to two trees growing entwined, breathing and taking the sunlight together. So the line is not entirely mine, but actually my inspiration for this piece by Tolkien himself =)

Oh, this was lovely! I always enjoy seeing Aragorn through Arwen's eyes and this did not disappoint. My favorite line: "With him, I am strong like a tree growing entwined with another." I can't think of a better way to describe their love!
