Drabble Drop-outs  by Kara's Aunty 32 Review(s)
cookiefleckReviewed Chapter: 5 on 9/24/2010
You killed off Sam on his final journey, without even the satisfaction of a big, juicy, noble, exciting, self-sacrificing-because-this-is-Sam-after-all death scene? Shame on you! ;o)

But, wait, merely in the interest of being helpful (hah), I have found a way to get you to the desired 100 words!!!

“He was lying not one mile away on the Road,” said the tall elf sadly, carefully offering his burden to the lord of the realm. “He almost passed beyond the bounds of Arda.”

The explanation was unnecessary. Glazed eyes, slack mouth, bloody temple: it looked as though the aged figure had fled his mortal coil.

“I cannot say for certain, but I believe he may have suffered a seizure of the heart and struck his head on a rock as he fell from his mount.”

Cirdan clasped Sam to his chest before successfully administering first aid to the last Ring-bearer.

Author Reply: Hello cookiefleck,

honestly one of the funniest reviews I've ever had. Who knew knocking off Sam would produce such a collective reaction of disbelief and creativity? I've been chuckling ever since I read your brilliant review. And what's more, if you want to take a look at Chapter 6, you'll get a nice suprise ...

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

We always hurt the ones we love!
I am liking your over grown drabbles.
Lynda

Author Reply: Hello Lynda,

I've always liked 'Lynda' with a 'y'. Seems so sophisticated.

And I'm glad you're enjoying my drabble attempts. No doubt they'll continue until I nail that golden 100 (whenever that happens).

Thanks very much for R & R-ing,

M ;)

Well, why not, I suppose? I've seen Sam arrive to find no Mithlond left, all the Elves fled long ago, and he dies upon the Shore as Frodo's shade comes to take his sailing over the sea. I've seen Ulmo sweeping Sam from the ship that he not arrive to find Frodo gone before him. I've seen him arrive to be hugged by Frodo, and to hear Frodo's screams of agony (that one made me cringe), and to find he's the only mortal guest on the island.

But YOU killed Sam????????? Aargh!

Author Reply: Hello Larner,

gosh, I;ve really rocked the boat by offing my poor Sam, haven't I?

*chortles*

I was just thinking that since it was never definite (methinks) that he actually made it to Valinor, that anything was possible. He might've snuffed it at the Grey Havens before setting foot on the boat, and Cirdan couldn't bear to shatter his children's romantic notion that he had survived to join Frodo, and so didn't tell them.

Okay, it was a bit of an evil assumption, but I was trying to put my great love for Sam aside and explore other possibilities as objectively as possible.

Who could've known that it would make me Public Enemy Number One?

*cackles wildly*

I love it!!

Those other scenarios you listed were ... interesting. Frodo hugs Sam upon his arrival in Valinor and starts screaming in agony for no apparent reason? Ulmo drowns Sam because Frodo's dead? You actually read them? Ye gads, they make mine seem tame by comparison. Maybe I'm not such a villain after all ...

Maybe ...

Thanks very much for R & R-ing, and I promise never to kill Sam again (if It can be helped)!

Yeah, cousin, what in the Four Farthings do you think you were doing! Too tragic for them both, yet it does not mean they will be parted forever, reunion is still to come. But still!

Namarie, God bless, Your berry who is tapping her Tookish foot and not too pleased but may forgive you...okay I will...but only if you post another chapter of Hollow Victory soon! :)

Author Reply: Hello Tooky bloom,

gosh, that review has kept me sniggering all day. It was almost worth killing my Sam off just to get that reaction ...

I'm juggling so many fics just now that I'm not sure when I'll get another chapter of Hollow Victory up - but I'll try to make it soon.

Thanks for R & R-ing (and making me laugh pretty hard),

your (formerly) favourite cousin,

Widow Gamgee :o)

LOL!!!

That was clever of Pippin and worked very well.
Merry however should really know by now how dangerous it can be to wager with Pippin.

And, since Pippin used Entish, drabble size would have been far too short ;-)

Thanks for the laugh!

Author Reply: Hello Andrea,

Pippin is a clever wee soul, isn't he? Trust him to pull something like that out of the bag.

Poor Merry - no pudding for a week ...

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

That's a wonderful idea!

And when I think it over I agree that this might have happened.
Elrond and Celebrian really deserved it to have another daughter to celebrate their Renewed Joy.

LOL Bravo to you and to Pippin. Thanks for the smile.

Author Reply: Hello Grey WOnderer,

I'm thrilled Pippin gave you a giggle (though I believe Merry is still sulking in a corner somewhere ...)

*snigger*

Thanks for R & R-ing,

Perfect to achieve the goal! Hehehehe! Aragorn needed that, I know. Smart Merry, and smarter Pippin!

Author Reply: Hello Larner,

smart indeed; though methinks Merry underestimated his Tooky cousin just a tad ... But at least Aragorn cheered right up!

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

There is no replacing a loved one lost--only an opening of the heart for a new love that helps to heal the loss experienced. And I rejoice that this time there shall be no further sundering. Well done.

Author Reply: Hello Larner,

too true. We're all individuals, and therefore all irreplaceable. Still hopefully their new daughter will at least give Elrond and Celebrian something to focus on, and through raising her, they may better learn to deal with Arwen's loss.

*sniffle*

Thanks for R & R-ing, m'dear,

M ;)

It took a VERY long time before I could write a drabble, either! Heh! First chapter I wrote that was under a thousand words I got congratulations from many. But this one deserves the font it uses, believe me! Excellently done.

Author Reply: Hello Larner,

yeah, I think maybe I was a bit too ambitious in trying to make a drabble out of such a heavy subject *snorts at self*. Still, you live and learn, right? Reading your fabby drabbles helped me curtail the next two chapters, so thanks for the inspiration - and for R & R-ing!
