Oh. My. Looking forward to seeing where you will take this. I guess once you've killed a dragon, mere harpies are nothing. Eönwë as a hawk: of course! He serves Manwë, so it's only logical. Can an Ainu die? -- Apparently they all got through the War of Wrath in one piece. So none of them have died yet ... which means none died in the earlier wars with Morgoth and his followers ... maybe because none were truly incarnate during those wars? Interesting. Author Reply: Yes, what are mere harpies to a dragon? But... who knows what lurks in the darkness... ;) And I imagine that Olórin was the first Ainu who has experienced death - and that was exactly because he was bound to a real, physical body during his mission in Middle-earth. Saruman was the next one... | |
