From Wilderness to Cities White  by Larner 391 Review(s)

Oh, my. Lobelia and Lotho, at this point in the timeline, are the definition of petty and tacky.

Author Reply: Oh, that they were! Heh! Fun to imagine them at their most selfish.

At least people in need actually benefited from the thievery. *goes off humming looking for some thread to embroider my monogram on my small clothes!*

Author Reply: True, that. Dear Lobelia and Lotho--they grant me a good deal of fun writing about them.

Well, well... it was not so very clever to remove the embroidery!

Does Lobelia really believe that her stealing (and her son's) goes unnoticed?

I wonder what Beno does with this new bit of information? Apparently, he already shared it with someone ;-)

Author Reply: It must be a major embarrassment to have the likes of Lobelia and Lotho in the family. We know that Frodo was thinking he'd get the family together to deal with Lotho when he realized Lotho was naming himself "Chief" on his return, so he already thought of his S-B cousin as anything but an asset to the Bagginses.

Bad, bad Lotho and Lobelia! [shakes head] At least Frodo and Merry were able to put on their outer clothes long enough to get back to Bag End and put on some clean panties, as we would call them.

Author Reply: We know that as well as being generally unpleasant that Lobelia, at least, was a sneak thief. It's likely that Lotho, too, was most likely to have developed a penchant for helping himself to others' goods, and particularly if he was jealous and/or contemptuous of his victims. I suspect that Bilbo tended to have excesses of briefs and undervests made for Frodo due to the likelihood that Lotho and Ted Sandyman were likely to help themselves to what they could swipe from Frodo's clothes while he was swimming.

Thanks so!

I often watched them with feelings of envy, wishing I could know such intimacy as they were able to share and yet retain my own individuality as they did.

That was a beautiful gap filler! I especially liked the dance of the Lights.

Author Reply: I've always imagined that, unclad, the Maiar would rejoice to dance in the Light and Breath of this world. And I cannot imagine that it would have been easy for Galadriel to think of losing her individuality.

Thanks so!

Author Reply: Thank you so, Tari!

I am glad Frodo knew some relief from his pain through the Lady's touch. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: And I am certain that in reaching Tol Eressea in her company gave him even more joy. Thanks so, Antane!

Such beautiful images are in this story. How wonderful the Trees must have been!

Author Reply: Thanks so, Linda. Indeed they must have been beautiful. And love to the fur-children!

I can'r really understand how I missed reading this one Larner even with all that has being going on in my life. What a lovely, lovely gap-filler. I have often wondered why the Prof did not have Frodo offering the Ring to Elrond as the third ring-bearer. Could it be that Elros, had he not chosen mortality, would have been the ring's custodian instead of Elrond? (Ha! Another Bunny let loose!)

Author Reply: Ooh, and such a fetching bunny it is! So glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so!

*sigh*

Oh, but that was lovely.

(and yes, such a joyful small bundle of fur... simply adorable)

Thank you!

*hugs*

Author Reply: I am so glad you enjoyed the gift. Love to you always!

And Tilion sends his love. He'll be visiting with his brother and sister in their new home soon. Love to the girls and hubby!
