The Potter's Shed  by Larner 43 Review(s)
Lynn HReviewed Chapter: 4 on 11/22/2010
What a treasure! What a collection of treasures :
Pip, the sweetheart, offering a gift from his heart;
the coiled pot itself, shaped with love;
and the Aunt understanding Pip's offer of love with the pot.

Author Reply: Yes, all this and more. Thanks so, Lynn.

How sweet! And sweeter still to me is your reply to my MEFA review of Explaining! *hugs*

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thanks so, Antane. And as I noted I so appreciated the review! Thank you so!

Recognizing people who's spirits are beautiful is harder than seeing the beauty of an object. That is a real asset for Pippin.

Author Reply: And that is so true, Tari. Pippin's sight is clear, I think. Thanks so very much!

Great! Pippin has finally found a technique he likes. And his auntie is relieved :-)

I remember using and enjoying that technique myself when I was at primary school. I still have one of those small pots!

Author Reply: I, too, have found the coil method one of my more successful means of constructing bowls and pots of clay. My last bowl, however, broke some years ago now.

Pippin did learn to appreciate beauty and to provide his own, just not the way his parents thought, in being able to give cheer to his beleaguered cousin so much later on and throughout his life.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Wise words from Pippin's old aunt!

But maybe working with her will help him be more patient than he was before.
And that would be a real achievement :-)

Author Reply: I do hope he learns both patience and appreciation from all this! Thanks so, Andrea.

There's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip.

Author Reply: That there is, of course. Heh!

This is very interesting.
I'm quite sure you speak out of experience here.

Pippin, however, still has to gain experience. It will be hard for him to concentrate long enough (and solely) on his work.
But I think his auntie will be patient - even after she slipped. Or so I hope ;-)

Author Reply: I loved doing pottery when I was a child and adolescent. I never was any good at the pottery wheel, so the first drabble of course is based on my own experience. I've done some lovely coiled bowls and pots, and some nice pinch pots and modeling. But I was never tall enough to pour slip into a mold without spilling at least some, or so I remember it.

I think that Pippin will have some successes, but, then, he IS Pippin after all!

Looks like they are both in for adventures! :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Oh, yes, indeed, Antane!

Oops!!! He's in for it now!!!

Author Reply: Well, what does one expect from Pippin, after all? Heh!
