A Journey through Arda  by Larner 95 Review(s)

Hi Larner.I cant wait for you finish this story.I feel for the Vala when Isildur
turned away.I often wondered, if he had known what the future held, if he had gone ahead and destroyed the ring. Can't wait for the next chapter.LOL Galathil

Author Reply: My heavens, but I've managed to miss this one, too! This story is continued on in a way in my work in progress, Stirring Rings. If only Isildur hadn't put off the destruction of the Ring as he did! Thanks!

As always good will come from evil. The water is now the safest place for the Ring to be until Ring-destroyer, Ring-finder, and Ring-bearer can come to be and take up their appointed roles.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Yes, those three will come; but there can't help but have been shock and disappointment that Isildur managed to botch it as he did. Thanks so, Antane!

Finally finishing these up - glad to see another story of his wishing to heal and free those so long trapped by evil.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I'm certain that this would be one of Aragorn's greatest desire--to indeed see all healed and set upon their proper way, including those caught on the ancient battleground and the site of the burials for so many.

Ah, for the time to take a journey that long! I am filled with longing.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I would love to have the chance to visit Rhosgobel myself. Thanks!

Contining to make my way through this Journey - and though I am certainly glad not to be personally with Gandalf on this one, I would still love to see it continued, even if we already know who he found. A little fleshing out under your expert hand would be welcome! :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Eventually this chapter will be expanded upon in "Stirring Rings." And thanks so for the vote of confidence!

I love the ending the most, comfort given and received.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: It must have been difficult accepting that Legolas has accepted he must leave Middle Earth one day; but it's a truth best faced from the beginning, I think. And Legolas has observed enough to realize that there will be bad rulers as well as good ones in the world of Men.

Thanks so, Antane.

A truly frightening experience - glad he came out unharmed - though sorry that others did not. :(

Namarie, God bless, Antane

Author Reply: Realizing what was going on inside the Red Temples--and why--must have shocked him, and strengthened his resolve to counter the Enemy however he could.

What a sweet thing for Frodo to do, especially considering the way he and Boromir parted, but such is the nobility of that dear hobbit. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Considering what the Ring did to him, I suspect strongly that Frodo had to forgive Boromir as well as to thank him for giving him the reason to leave as and when he did. And, indeed, such is the nobility of Frodo Baggins. And how better to honor Boromir's honor and his defense of Merry and Pippin than by trying to repay these people in Boromir's memory?

Love the care Sam was giving to the flowers - making sure they were all right - and love most the end - the sweet care he gives to Elrond in that touch of his hand.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Yes, the flowers of that greenhouse would have drawn Sam to their place, and how he must have loved being there, able to examine them. And as one given ever to nurturance, Elrond himself would have appealed to him at that moment, I think. Thanks so very much, Antane!

That particular son is one of the few clear memories I have from my one reading of Silmarillion. He suffered greatly at the hands of the enemy, just as Frodo has and will. Love that last sentence, assurance that would be needed even if he didn't understand who that Other was, as I'm afraid such a fate would occupy his mind much on the way especially when he knew more and more he could not part with his loathed and loved treasure.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I've only read the Sil perhaps twice all the way through, although I do graze from it on occasion. Yes, Maedhros suffered far too greatly at the hands of Melkor, and I suspect that Sauron participated in the tortures inflicted upon him before he was hung upon the mountainside by his one wrist.

And although perhaps Frodo might not fully appreciate the nature of the Creator, I think in the depths of his heart he begins to appreciate just how much he is loved for what he is and for his willingness to spend what he is for the needs of Middle Earth. And love that description of the Ring--"loathed and loved treasure"! How apt.
