Bilbo is VERY wise here. Author Reply: His wisdom has been tempered by exposure to the outer world and an acceptance of his own ability to be foolish, I think. And now he appreciates the thinking of Hamfast, who has his own ideas as to how society should be ordered.

(And G is for GamgeeFest! ...Coming up with all the hobbity authors I can to associate with these letters? Who, me? *innocent look* Well, it's for Gamgee, at any rate!) Anyway, I loved the term "grammar-shirriff", but I felt sorry for poor Sam - Bilbo's right. The Gaffer (another G!) would probably feel Sam was getting above himself. As I used to hear my teachers tell my classmates frequently, "'Ain't' ain't a word!" (I never used it, so I had a good, private laugh to myself over the irony of the statement after class...) “That’s quite enough of you trying to be the grammar-shiriff,” the older Hobbit said. Grammar-shirriff, that's funny :-) From what I have read so far it is clear that Frodo gets the best education possible from Bilbo. And it is universal as well as unique! I'm looking forward to reading more!

Farming is a useful skill, too! I'm hoping to learn canning, actually...there's not much scope for me to do any actual farming, in the midst of the third-largest (by population) city in California. So I can't do what Frodo did, but we do have a farmer's market on Sundays. Canning, pickling, making jams and so on seem like they'd be useful. Kaylee Author Reply: I have done some gardening, and have helped raise chickens and ducks. Making jam can be fun. But for Hobbits, farmers are probably highly honored.

"...Besides, if I don’t insist on you studying etiquette your Aunt Dora will never leave us be!” No, she won't! *laughs* That's very true! I do wonder if he has a copy of Miss Dora's Book, what do you think Larner? We could ask Dreamflower if she gave it to him. Kaylee Author Reply: In my-verse Frodo helped copy that volume for gifts, so I KNOW he's read it! Heh!

*grins* D is for Aunt Dora as well as for Drawing! (And for Dreamflower, come to that! Hehehe! And L is for Larner, as well as whatever else it's going to be for. ~.^) Well done Larner, I really love this one! I wish I could draw like that! Kaylee Author Reply: In my-verse Frodo has always loved drawing, and signs his pictures with a dragonfly that he hides within his work. And I love working Dora in when I can.

Ah, yes...Saradoc can't keep him safe forever! Bilbo's quite right! Especially if an Adventure comes knocking at his door...which it will, just not with 13 Dwarves in tow! Camping is a very useful skill! Kaylee Author Reply: No, they can't protect him always. I bet everyone in the end would have preferred had thirteen Dwarves and a Wizard gone with Frodo on his adventure rather than him leaving with a certain gold Ring in his pocket.

Love this new series, especially B. :) Ah, a hobbit after my own heart. I liked the ending for C also and liked D also. What a gifted lad! Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: He does have a good deal to learn to be accepted as a Hobbit of accomplishment, of course. And if I didn't love books, I wouldn't have so blessed many! Heh! I certainly empathize with the lad!

I like imagining thoughtful conversations between Frodo's two guardians. Author Reply: As do I, Shirebound!
